Just wanted to add my 2 cents after just purchasing this whip. The only difference between this replacement and my original from the 70's is the aluminum attachment hub. I hand wash items like this to make sure they're clean so can't say the fact of dishwasher problems affect me. The wires contrary to what some have written before are not thinner. I actually measured them, they're exactly the same at .077" The strength of this one is the same as the old. I bent up the original, usually with a careless spatula, and I'm sure something like that is the usual case. You can only bend metal wire so many times and it will fail. I consider that I used mine for right at 30 years pretty good service!Customer Review: Seems a bit flimsier than original whip

We just bought this as a replacement for one that came with the mixer almost 7 years ago. This is the right size for my model. I'm sure it will work fine (I only tried it in a dry bowl), but I'm having trouble with the seemingly lesser quality of this replacement whip. My original whip was 100% stainless steel and weighs 4.5oz. This new version has a connector socket that feels hollow, perhaps? It weighs only 3.3oz.
So if you are purchasing a replacement for an older whip,don't expect an exact replica (like I did). I'm trusting that this will work as well as my older one.

My original wire whip was bent several years ago when "somebody" plugged in the mixer while the whip was attached, all the other attachments were in the bowl, and the control lever was on. Oops. So, after several years of listening to my bent whip scrape the bowl I finally bought a replacement! The new whip is exactly the same as my original was before it's accident. I am very pleased with this product and would recommend it to anyone who needs a wire whip replacement for their Classic KitchenAid Mixer.Customer Review: wire whip for Kitchenaid

the whip itself is pretty well made, as was the mixer. Unfortunately, I cannot get the right size replacements for a really old Kitchenaid stand mixer that still runs like a dream. This newer one, does not fit on the spindle post properly and so represents a wasted effort. luckily, we found the old one. We have no desire to replace the antique (1940's - '50's) model until it is really needed. The appliance has been great.

My wife had broken her last Whip and we were somewhat worried that the price of a new one would be too expensive. After searching through the Amazon site I was happy to see the KSM90 as a perfect replacement. The product arrived very fast and in pristine condition. Not only did it do the job but it was a better size than the last one she had.
All in all you can't go wrong with any KitchenAid products out there. This company is quality through and through.
