Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of KitchenAid K45SS Classic 250-Watt 4-1/2-Quart Stand Mixer, WhiteCustomer Review: Partners For Close to 22 Years!! My Long-Standing Buddy!!! Summary: 5 Stars
This mixer, in my opinion, is a true workhorse!! It has stood up to just about every task that it was assigned to. It NEVER WIMPERED OR BOGGED DOWN. Not even once!!
I've made at least 65 pound cakes, 13 German Chocolate cakes, 16 pie fillings, mounds of meringues, 65 loaves of bread, 30 batches of Parkerhouse dinner rolls, tons of whipped cream, and dozens of batches of cookies!! All with this one mixer alone, and not once in all that time did it give me any trouble!!!
Thanks to its exclusive all-metal construction, its powerful 250-watt motor and high-torque transmission. Plus the fact that this machine WILL NOT strut its stuff across the counter or table because it is heavy enough to stay put right where you use it!
The large capacity 4.5-qt stainless steel work bowl locks in place in the base and the beaters are easily interchangable with each other. Comes with a wire whisk, flat beater and dough hook as standard equipment. The machine allows for the production of two consecutive batches of bread dough.
Great unit for the budget-concious cook who wants great quality but don't want to spend a fortune for a reliable simple basic mixer!! Twenty-two years this coming November, and not one peep out of it. That's amazing, that's experience, that's knowllege, that's success!!
It gets the job done!! Very phenomenal!!

Customer Review: Weighs a Ton Summary: 3 Stars
My KitchenAid K45SSWH Stand Mixer, 4.5 Qt. Classic is so heavy, it hardly gets used. I can't put it away in a cupboard because it's impossible for me to lift (I am capable of lifting two 12" cast iron fry pans at a time so this should give some idea of what I'm talking about). I don't want it standing in the middle of my counter space, so I opted for pushing it under the top cupboard. Here's where I thought it could be pulled out to where it can be used -- NO, the legs hold it firmly in place so I can't pull it out. Anyone reading this will probably say: "Somebody always has to gripe about something." I say that myself. This is just to let others know that unless you have the muscles of a weight-lifter, this might not be what you want. On the other hand, if anyone has overcome this problem, I would be extremely happy to accept advice.
My second problem is with the bowl, or the beaters... don't know which. The stuff at the bottom of the bowl doesn't get touched, it constantly needs scrapping because the beaters don't reach all the way to the bottom. I'm making a comparison between the Kitchenaid and my old Sunbeam where the bowl used to spin around on a platform and the beaters reached everywhere, bottom and sides. I also had a choice between using the small or large bowl. I sure miss my Sunbeam Mixmaster.
Customer Review: buy the right kitchenaid Summary: 5 Stars
Have never heard a bad word about Kitchenaid stand mixers until I read one here from someone using the smallest mixer for big chores. In the last two years I have purchased a total of 14 Kitchenaid mixers, from the classic to the 6 quart professional model...all on sale. They were purchased for gifts for my daughters, church members, choir director and friends. I bought 7 Classic models, 4 Heavy Duty models 2 Artisans and the 6 quart professional for myself. I have not received one negative comment. When you purchase a Kitchenaid, do not purchase it by bowl size...you must purchase it based on the motor size for the jobs you do. If you are constantly mixing bread and double batches of very heavy dough, you should purchase a mixer with a heavy duty motor. This information is found on the Kitchenaid website. The company clearly tells you what each mixer is capable of doing. I know women who have had these mixers since they were brides 25 years or more ago...they are still up and running. They are an investment like good knives and heavy cookware...no real cook should be without one, but should be smart enough to buy the right one. I only wish I had one when I started baking 43 years ago, maybe I wouldn't have tendonitis from mixing all those cookies by hand with a wooden spoon!!! They are worth every penny.
Customer Review: Reliable must for anyone who enjoys baking... Summary: 5 Stars
Like other reviewers, I just felt I had to add my kudos to Kitchen Aid for this appliance. Nowdays when so many appliances are lucky to last a year (include in that all toaster brands, hand held mixers, irons...where I haven't had one last more than nine months or do a half way decent job), my White Kitchen Aid mixer has outlasted and outdone all the other applianes in my house! Let alone my kitchen!Kitchen Aid can be proud to produce and stand behind this product. With the seemingly chronic stupidity of corporate America at this point, it is nice to see one of these companies do something decent and something right. This appliance is one that should be given to every bride and groom. It can be used for both simple and complex recipes, for baking, for making omelets, grinding meats, etc. I have only had to replace one piece of it, and that was my fault. This appliance is at least 10 years old, and yet it has the place of honor in my kitchen. I keep it out because I use it for so much, and I do not bake or cook as much as I did ten years ago prior to three degrees and with three children still needing to be made cookies for school and Scouts. It still looks as good as it did when I first got it, so I am not embarrassed to have it out on display. A truly phenomenal piece of equipment! Karen Sadler
Customer Review: Best Christmas present ever! Summary: 5 Stars
I got this model for Christmas seven years ago, and I've never loved a present so much! This mixer and my Cuisinart (now twenty years old) have made me Queen of the Kitchen. Just knowing these two culinary icons are standing by makes me positively fearless in approaching any recipe. Bring it on!
No, this mixer won't mix huge quantities of bread dough, but it will take on one or two loaves' worth, cold butter and egg whites, warm cream and turn out perfect results every single time. What I really love is being able to walk away from it and do something else while it's working its magic.
It fits nicely into the corner appliance garage in my kitchen (the Cuisinart takes up the other half), and I leave it plugged in all the time. All I have to do is slide it out, remove the attachments from the bowl and have at it!
Cleanup is easy, easy, easy. Everything just slides off the attachments, even the whisk, which you can't put in the diswasher. It's basically rinse and go.
I'd say this mixer is more than adequate even for dedicated cooks, and if it's not big or powerful enough, then you have the wrong one. Not the KA's fault. The power and size are just perfect for the average kitchen.
Love it, love it, love it!
