Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of KitchenAid K45B Flat Beater Replacement for KSM90 and K45 Stand Mixer

Customer Review: Good product but limited life
Summary: 4 Stars

My wife does lots of baking!

We are on the third flat beater like this one. After extended use, the white coating wears out and starts peeling off at the bottom most point of the beater. It's a good beater but the coating does not last forever.

To avoid flakes of this white coating in the food, we've had to replace the beater twice over 3 or 4 years.

I've tried to locate an uncoated, white metal beater with no success.

Customer Review: can't beat the beater!
Summary: 5 Stars

My Kitchenaid mixer is 14 years old so I was thrilled that I could find a replacement part so easily and for such a good price. If the beater paddle is missing the whole mixer is worthless!. But this paddle came quickly, fits my old mixer perfectly and I am back to mixing cookies and cakes in the kithchen every day. What can I say, I never thought about this item until I didn't have it. I hope this one lasts another than 14 years!

Customer Review: Beater replacement due to nylon coating disbondment
Summary: 3 Stars

Due to the nylon coating coming off our old beater we are replacing our KitchenAid flat beater after 15 years of use. We note that product description says to "hand wash" and that perhaps 15 years of cleaning in the automatic dishwasher is the reason for the deterioration. Still this is the 21st century and you would think KitchenAid could come up with something that doesn't require 19th century cleaning techniques.

Customer Review: Good, but . . .
Summary: 3 Stars

This object is painted. That is OK, but the paint chips and someone gets to eat it. We have to replace these frequently. If it were coated with epoxy that might be better. Kitchen Aid makes a beater that is uncoated and therefor does not chip, but does not do well in the dishwasher. An unpainted beater with an anodized treatment would be ideal, I think, or one made of stainless steel.

Customer Review: 7 years and going strong!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have had this product for over 7 years with no issues. I suggest following the care guidelines and NEVER wash this in the dishwasher. I always handwash wit mild soap after use and NEVER let it sit in water. I do not let dough or anything I have mixed dry on the beater, either. I have had no issues and love this product, but do agree they should offer a stainless option for these mixers.
