This is the third of these I've had to buy. Certainly the KitchenAid does a wonderful job but I wish they would make these out of stainless like their other beater. The white coating chips and peals and falls into the food. Apparently it is because I've been putting it in the dishwasher. However, as far as ordering from Amazon goes, the beater arrived quickly and in perfect condition. I gave it four stars because it does a good job but it does not last as long as you would expect a KitchenAid product to last.Customer Review: It's so nice to have any extra beater on hand!

If you bake a lot, and find yourself using your mixer more than once a week, I definitely recommend getting an extra flat beater. Only you know how often you are reaching to quickly wash off one beater in time to make that second batch of something delicious. For me, it happened all the time. No more! My mixer bowl still holds the two flat beaters, bread hook and whisk beaters while in storage. I recommend keeping things simple and just having an extra flat beater on hand if you use your mixer a lot.Customer Review: Won't last forever, but cheap enough to replace

I've owned my 4 1/2 quart mixer now for about 7 years. I use it quite a bit, and just recently the coating on the top of the beater started to crack. I do wash mine in the dishwasher, and am not sure if that has something to do with the rate of deterioration. My mom has a similar one for a 5 qt mixer that's over 30 years old, and she hand washes hers. Nonetheless, I can handle $12 to replace it every 7 years. I can't imagine life without my mixer, and this is the attachment I use the most often.Customer Review: If you need it, don't hesitate!

I have owned my KitchenAid mixer for 27 years, and it is wonderful. But, I have used it so often over the years that I actually wore the finish off the flat beater. Needed to order a new one, a no brainer went to AMAZON, they had just what I needed, it was quick, easy, reasonable price, received quickly. KitchenAid mixers are wonderful products. I purchased this beater as a replacement for my original mixer beater. The original mixer beater's enamel had started to wear off and the bare metal was starting to rust. Before anyone thinks that you have to replace beaters every few years let me explain: the original beater that finally wore out was over 30 years old! KitchenAid mixers are wonderful products that are built to last. This beater will probably outlast me.
