Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of KitchenAid FPPA Mixer Attachment Pack for Stand MixersCustomer Review: love kitchenaid, problem with attachment pack Summary: 3 Stars
KitchenAid is such a great brand, and I love my mixer, however I've had problems with the attachment pack. The shaft that fits through the housing unit and attaches to the various slicing cones was machined incorrectly in two separate packages. I received the first attachment set and had to return it because of this problem. Amazon promptly sent me a new package. This one also has a shaft that was machined incorrectly therefore does not fit into the mixer. This time I called KitchenAid and they are FedEx-ing me a new shaft from their warehouse immediately. Hopefully this will correct the problem. I don't blame Amazon or KitchenAid, just a bad batch of parts. Both Amazon and KitchenAid have been wonderful in attempting to correct the problem. The professional series KitchenAid stand mixer is an incredible tool for your kitchen and even with this little glitch I will continue to use KitchenAid mixer products. Just wanted to let people know if you get the attachment pack and your slicer attachment won't fit onto the mixer stand housing, this is the problem.
Customer Review: worth the price, will pay for it self in time Summary: 5 Stars
I was stand-offish at first, was not sure if I would ever use them, Boy was I wrong! The fact is I can't stop using them. I make my own deer sausage, Italian and breakfast sausage with out all the dyes and preserves.
I use the grinder and shredder attachments all the time like on cheese. A lot of people don't know that pre-shredded cheese has potato starch to keep it from sticking together and that affects the taste and creaminess of the product . A block of cheese can be shredded in seconds and be all natural with out the starches. Hash browns. Julian carrots for meatloaf along with peppers and onions . I got a great deal on pork and beef so I came home and made my OWN hamburgers and pre froze them. They sell a stand mixers bible on Amazon and it has over 300 recipes on sausage and other things. A lot of these recipes require these attachments. The bottom line is that you have one of the greatest mixers of all times why not bring out its full potential and add the kit you will not be disappointed
Customer Review: A bit awkward, but worth it with Mixer Bible Summary: 4 Stars
This attachment pack includes the food grinder, which I love. It is so nice to be able to grind my own turkey and chicken. I already have the sausage stuffer, which works fine if you are into that sort of thing. I prefer to make my own sausage and just keep it in bulk form. The food shredder isn't the best design, but it does work well shredding cheese and is maybe easier to use for that purpose than my food processor. The food strainer does a fine job of straining berries to remove the seeds and pureeing some vegetables. I really started to use these attachments after purchasing The Mixer Bible. There are so many recipes in this book that use them (over 300). Last night I made the Shrimp Bisque and actually ground the shells into the stock for more flavor using the grinder. It worked like a charm and we had the best shrimp bisque I ever tasted. There is definitely a lot more that can be done with these attachments than meets the eye. The Mixer Bible has shown me how to really get my money's worth out of these attachments.

I bought this for help with home canning. This turned out to be one of the best purchases I have made in a while. My only complaint (almost cost it a star) is that the hopper is far too small. It takes good aim and makes some mess trying to get the food where it is supposed to go. Using a ladle helps. (I will probably get the larger hopper attachment when I feel like spending more money.) I made gads of applesauce and spaghetti sauce with the FVS attachment this year. It sped up what had been the worst part of the process so much that I canned far more than I had planned to! I also got an extra quart of spaghetti sauce with the same recipe I had been making with my food mill. The shredder was awesome. It consumed a zucchini in seconds. This was great for all that zucchini I never know what to do with. It wasn't long until I found myself staring at a mountain of shredded zucchini and my smiles slowly evaporated as I realized I now had to do something with it. Zucchini bread. Zucchini relish...
Customer Review: A canners' dream Summary: 5 Stars
I have used all these attachments and they all work very well. The fruit and vegetable strainer is what I use most. It makes excellent tomato juice if you like a lot of pulp in your juice. It also works well for making apple sauce. It is much faster than a Foley Food Mill. Clean up of the strainer is a little cumbersome but if you let it soak in warm water for a while an old tooth brush will remove all the food debris from the strainer relatively easy.
I haven't used the grinder too much yet but seems to work well on onions and even celery. It grinds them up into very small pieces so if you want your food to have bigger 'chunks' of the vegetable in your recipe, you may want to cut them up by hand. As for me, the finer the better so you get the flavor of the onion without having big chunks of it in your food.
I have used the slicing cone once or twice and it makes great potato slices - razor thin!
