I probably should have given it only 4 STARS since it's soooo expensive but you can't change your star ratings--you can only add or edit content. I hope I can help those careful shoppers out there still researching in hopes of a KITCHENAID---but still not quite sure. I had read some of the online reviews that were less than stellar and I have to admit, I was a bit concerned. Last year we bought a KitchenAid Refrigerator that was about $1000 more expensive then it's competitors but a huge disappointment to us. It's freezer broke the first Month. We are on our 3rd one in 1 year and can't justify the huge difference in price. So far, we think you just pay for the KITCHENAID name on that item.
I just bought the Kitchenaid 40 oz PINK Blender for my best friend YET she is not much of a cook. Truth is she will barely use it--She just wants PINK items and is NOT budget conscience and does not do her homework, like I do.
So, Christmas arrives and I saw that my sweet husband had bought me the Large Cinnamon Red KitchenAid KSB560 56 oz Blender from a store with a possible re-stocking fee. I was VERY apprehensive. I waited to use it until I could call the company and verify I wouldn't have any problem returning it--if it didn't perform. I wasn't going to get STUCK with a $108.00 w/ tax(on sale) blender that had-had plenty of crappy reviews.
So, Apparently Kitchen Aid has worked on those probs. Being on a budget, that's a steep amount of money for a blender--unless it works FANTASTIC and tells me "I'm pretty" on a regular basis. I saw that in other reviews some people wanted to know how this fits under cabinets. My Kitchen has not been re-modeled YET so there is 15" from the counter to the lip of upper cabinets. This blender is big and heavy and will only fit there IF I take out the clear plastic plug in the lid. That is fine--not a problem--- and it looks pretty on my counters. I can put a paper towel to cover the hole if needed.
Anyway, I tried several variations this week and it has become the entertainment for us. My husband and I were saying, "Oh what did you do last weekend, Ohhh we BLENDED with our new KITCHENAID 56 oz blender!!" Anyway, I make my smoothies and protein shakes with frozen fruit. I hit that Liquefy button and was in awe and shock as it turned very little liquid and lots of frozen fruit---- into an amazing drink --within seconds. It was quite fun to watch. It is a bit loud, as I have read. Then we made Midori Margs last night with the LARGE ice cube trays ---ice cubes. They are harder to crush. This time my husband got the thrill of watching it do it's job to perfection. We were laughing at the cheap entertainment. Voila, within seconds a very smooth marg. This morning we had protein shakes w/ tons of frozen fruit. Again, it was fast and smooth and thrilling. Also, the large 56 oz container is fantastic. I don't have to make 2 different pitchers of protein shakes. I could have REALLY used this blender in my 20's and early 30's when I was the official margarita and daiquiri maker ---for miles around. I can't wait to try more things in it.
FYI--I used to clean my old blender--my OSTER MULTI with a sponge and even use the scrubber side for harder to clean dried food. I tried this with the sponge/scrubber and it scratched the cinnamon color leaving light scratches, so beware. Clean Up of the Pitcher is a breeze. The Pitcher is an expensive looking plastic that is wide and large so therefore easy to clean.
So, I hope that helps those of you on the fence. I had my OSTER Blender which was also a MIXER, Food Processor, Blender, and Meat chopper. It lasted for over 23 years. I hope that this product--- will last that long, as well. Let's hope!!!
UPDATE--now had the blender for a couple of years. I have NOT used it as much as my OSTER that I had for over 25 yrs and NEVER had a problem. This blender is leaking profusely and out of warranty and you have to purchase a new one for $65 dollars. You can research all of the complaints on the INTERNET regarding this very subject. So, mine LEAKS a LOT!!! No way to fix it--it's a design flaw and KITHCENAID is NOT standing behind their customers. If you have loads of money and can afford to replace a blender a lot then stay with Kitchenaid---If you need to watch your budget---stick with OSTER or another Brand. I am DONE with KITCHENAID. I don't like my very, very expensive REFRIGERATOR either. This is the 3rd one and the door sticks. UGH!
ANOTHER UPDATE-- I called KITCHENAID and gave them my story. I was Nice & Calm and courteous. He returned in kind. He got his supervisor to OKAY sending me another PITCHER for free. He also said that the pitchers are not as expensive, I can't remember what he said but they might be nearer to the $20 dollar mark with a discount. So, they were very nice and accommodating and I would purchase again.
