Customer Review: KitchenAid white plastic items are easily damaged in dishwasher

I love the KitchenAid brand and have many KichenAid products, the oldest of which is my 25 year old standing mixer, which works flawlessly year after year. However, I am starting to notice that KitchenAid products manufactured in this white plastic are NOT dishwasher safe. I like to put measuring spoons in the dishwasher to sanitize them, and these got melted when washed, just like the blender attachment on my KitchenAid immersion blender. Since the shape of these spoons has changed, these are useless for measuring. Next time I'll buy stainless steel measuring spoons, instead of shopping by brand name and brand reputation.

These measuring spoons are made out of high impact resistant ABS plastic, able to withstand the abuse most kitchens can dish out. They all stay together on a ring, which can hang for convenience.Blessed with large, easy-to-read markings, the five measuring spoons in this set make any cook's work easier. They're permanently secured by a solid ring, are sturdily made of thick, white plastic, and are dishwasher-safe. The spoons accurately measure 1/4-teaspoon, 1/2-teaspoon, 1-teaspoon, 1/2-tablespoon, and 1-tablespoon amounts. Their handles are slightly curved, making it easier to obtain level measurements in the proper wrist position. KitchenAid says the first year of the spoons' lifetime warranty against defects is hassle-free; the company will ship a replacement at no cost and without question if a defect is detected. --Fred Brack
