Customer Review: I almost didn't purchase it.
Summary: 4 Stars
First, my credentials. I have worked as both a baker's assistant and a barista/coffee roaster. I know my way around professional grade weighing systems and have depended on them for daily use for over 7 years. This is my first kitchen scale so please take all of this in consideration. We (as in my wife and I) use it for artisan bread making (in small batches at home) and artisan confections and chocolates.
I ALWAYS read through the comments and reviews before I purchase something. I was a little spooked because of the idea that the company may or may not be behind the 5 star reviews. But I loved how it looked and I assumed if it was terrible, I would return it. I must say, the scale is mostly constructed of toy-like plastic. It feels like something a dollar store cap gun is made out of. Maybe a bit thicker. None-the-less, we dove right into making Honey-Lavender truffles trusting its accuracy out of the box. We inserted the included batteries and turned it on. It lit up all zeroes, like I assumed. I placed a Pyrex bowl on top and push the TARE button. Back to zeroes. Perfect! So first use? Great. We continued to temper the chocolate and in the end they turned out terrific. Which wouldn't be possible if it were off at all, the improper milk/chocolate ratio would make the whole thing seize up to an unusable rock. Since then, we have used it for baking Rosemary-"Parmesan" Rolls, Sourdough Bread and other numerous applications before Thanksgiving hit. After 20+ uses, it is still just fine.

The KINTREX AAA Battery Powered SCL0640 Digital Kitchen Scale is a highly accurate food scale that easily measures ingredients directly on the tempered glass platform, in a bowl, or on a plate. The scale's innovative touch sensitive buttons are very easy to operate. The large backlit LCD display is easy to read from a distance. The scale measures in 0.1-ounce (imperial) and 1-gram (metric) increments for accuracy up to the 11lb (5000g) capacity of the scale. The scale features a Tare or offset function for weighing multiple ingredients. The elegant black glass platform is easy to clean and durable. This scale measures 9.1 inches by 5.9 inches by 0.8 inches.The KINTREX SCL0640 uses readily available AAA batteries.
