I chose this model as opposed to the SoyaPowerPlus, because it was fulfilled through Amazon. Recipients of the SoyaPowerePlus reported damaged boxes in shipping, and I like Amazon Prime. The machine is sturdy and appears well-made, except that the metal locking catches seem thin and flimsy. The outside of the unit gets hot, but not hot enough to burn, except for those metal locking catches! It does what it is supposed to -- make soy milk. We made plain soy milk and it had a kind of peanutty taste to it which we did not find unpleasant. We made pecan milk, which, sweetened with maple syrup, was delicious!
I wish the manual was better. I don't mind too much the oddly-worded statements such as "Be careful, the milk is thermal!" because I still get it -- the milk is HOT! The directions are understandable. What is missing is a clear explanation of what each of the four cycles do, so that I could figure out which one would best suite what I want to do. The "Recipes Prescription" section lists 7 recipes only: Rice Soymilk, Typical FiveCereals Soymilk, Cooking Soymilk, Full Bean Soymilk, Black Sesame Soymilk, Mung Bean Soymilk, and Millet & Mung Bean Soymilk. None of these recipes are for nut milk alone or rice milk alone. I saw someone on youtube make peanut milk on the soymilk setting, so that is how I made the pecan milk. None of these recipes use the "Rice Paste" button. What is rice paste? Is it a type of glue? Do I want to eat it? Will I ever use that function? With out an explanation, how will I know?
My other burning questions have to do with the electrical system. The SoyaPowerPlus, which appears to be an identical machine, is UL listed. Since both machines supposedly come from the same assembly line, I hope mine is OK, and they are not putting in different/cheaper parts when they make the Joyoung machines. Also, in the description it says that it includes an AC adapter. This is not correct. Thankfully, it come with your regular old three-pronged plug.
