We have been using this strainer for not only fried foods, but for boiled foods as well. The openings are very well spaced so that food does not fall out when your scooping, but water, and if your frying the oil, does not pool up and end up on your plate or bowl. Please note that it is steel and that it will scratch a non-stick, but for a stainless steel pot or straight cast iron, this is a perfect strainer.Customer Review: Good Gadget

Not much to say about this product, it's a strainer. It does however beat using a slotted spoon to lift food out of boiling water or hot grease. I just started using it to dip spaetzle out of the pot in between batches. Works pretty good. I purchased this on whim as a Christmas gift for my husband, who is the cook in our house. He has already used it several times and we are both wondering how he survived without it! The product is nothing special, a stick with a basket on the end. It is poorly made and by the time you pay shipping it is overly priced. I suggest if you buy this you include it with a larger order. I have been looking for one of these for a long time. I needed something that would gather more than a "slotted spoon". I love it! I highly recommend this strainer. It works great in hot oil and water and I just pop it in the dishwasher when I'm done - no problem!!!
