I purchased these because I got a new set of non stick pots and pans that I wanted to use them with. I had heard that bamboo was great with non stick. They showed up and are totally bare wood. Although they are made out of bamboo wood, the edges aren't finished very well, and there are small visible splinters that break off when you rub your finger along the edge.I didn't realize that these weren't burnished until they arrived. If you want this set...spend an extra dollar and get the burnished set from Joyce Chen.Customer Review: awesome set at unbelievable price

For the price this is the best set available. All 3 pieces are very sturdy (my main concern) and they work great. I needed to add a few dollars to my order to get free shipping, and I found this set.
