Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Joyce Chen 4 in 1 Microwave Rice SteamerCustomer Review: Excellent steamer, perfect rice every time Summary: 5 Stars
I was amazed at how easily I made the best, most perfect rice I've ever made, without hassle, in just a few minutes. Then I lost the instructions and contacted the Joyce Chen company and got the instructions emailed in less than a day, awesome customer service. Wow, this doesn't happen that often. Very, very pleased.
Customer Review: Made rice Summary: 5 Stars
I was so pleasantly surprised -- the steamer set made really nice rice! We have always used a traditional steamer, and we like our rice fairly dry. The Joyce Chen microwave pot requires 1 1/2 times as much rice as water, but it wasn't sticky. It took 20 minutes altogether, 15 cooking and 5 sitting for our 2 cups.
Customer Review: Makes a mess Summary: 1 Stars
I had an old microwaveable rice cooker that worked well, it broke, so I purchased this one. I have used it a couple times now and every time it makes a mess in the microwave. The plastic gets hot and loses its tight seal and water leaks everywhere. The rice comes out perfect, but the mess is not worth it.
Customer Review: Not good for popcorn Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this specifically to pop popcorn and it does not work well for that. If I microwaved long enough to pop most of the kernels it burned the popcorn.
But it does a good job of steaming veggies. (Haven't tried cooking rice.)
Customer Review: Makes the best rice Summary: 5 Stars
I own two of these steamers. It's the best thing I've found to make rice quickly, easily, and healthy. I also use it to make all my vegetables. It's probably the piece of cookware I use most often in my kitchen.
