Customer Review: Good, but not the best

I purchased three different bamboo cooking utensils for my daughter as part of her Christmas gift. Her wish list was a little late so I wasn't able to get her the bamboo items from another preferable source, Pampered Chef. They aren't a retailer, they are available from home parties and they weren't available on Amazon. I am not an e-bay user either as they did have them, but I don't like the process of bidding, etc., so I thought I would check out these and see how they rated with those who purchased them. As a result of reading good reviews, I made the decision to get them. I have 5-6 of the Pampered Chef bamboo utensils and they are top quality and excellent in every way. Cooking with them, hand washing or dishwasher, they come out like new. They are thicker and heavier than Chen's and when I sat them side by side, the quality difference was very obvious. These three bamboo utensils were $26.00, approximately $8.00 a piece, not cheap. Pampered Chef is a comparable price but so superior. I felt like they were overpriced for the passable quality. Now, with all that being said, they aren't junky. If I didn't have something better to compare them to, I would have thought they were nice and way better than decent wooden utensils, but I was disappointed. If you want bamboo utensils for the same $$ value, go with Pampered Chef.

Burnished bamboo stir-fry spatula is stronger than wood and will not swell, split, or absorb moisture. Safe for use on non-stick surfaces or in high-heat applications. The bamboo is treated through a special oven-roasting process, resulting in its beautiful honey colour. Dishwasher safe. Bamboo is a grass that functions as a single plant, self-propagating as it spreads horizontally underground.
