Customer Review: Not Useful for Time-Outs or the Kitchen

I purchased this for time-outs for my son, lured in by the attractive and appropriate sad face. I decided to ignore all of the negative reviews about the accuracy of the timer since time-outs don't really need to be as accurate as kitchen use. I wish I had not wasted my time with this product and heeded all of the warnings, this product is not at all useful for use on the naughty chair or in the kitchen!
Two major things are wrong with the timer that I received, each of which are reason enough not to order this product:
1) The timer did not make any chime sound at all once the time had elapsed. The only way to determine that the time had elapsed was to listen for the faint ticking noise to stop, which I could only accomplish by putting my ear an inch away from the timer.
2) It is impossible to set this for any amount of time with any accuracy that would make it useful in the kitchen. This is what most of the other reviews complain about, but I didn't understand the problem that they were describing. The user sets the timer by rotating the top half of the device. However, all of the numbers and notches rotate with this top half, so there is no ZERO notch on the other half in order to dial to the desired time. The user is left to guess how long the timer will run for, which is impossible to do with any accuracy at all.
This is one of those products that makes you wonder if the designers tried out their own product even once before sending it to production. Perhaps this makes a decent paper weight to look at, but it is completely useless for its intended purpose. Don't ignore all of these negative user reviews like I did, this thing is junk.
