Since coffee deteriorates rapidly in light and air, I wanted a container that would reduce both. This fits the bill. On the down side, it does not hold a full pound of whole bean coffee; more like just under 3/4 lb; and there's no place on the container to hang the (provided) scoop. Other than that, it's doing a great job for me! Relative to other canisters I've used, it's a very heavy item and it takes a little bit of effort to secure the lid, but that's indicative of a tight fit. I learned not to raise the lid past a certain point as, when the container is empty, it is heavy enough to throw it off balance and pull it over. The item is colorful enough to make it easy to locate for that first cup, but not blindingly so, and would fit into most any area. I'd buy another one, if I needed it.
