Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Jack LaLanne JLPJB Power Juicer Juicing Machine

Customer Review: Jack Lalanne Juicer
Summary: 1 Stars

I purchased the juicer based on information obtained in an informercial. After 3 weeks the motor died and I assumed that I would get satisfaction from the life time warranty they advertised. Upon reading the fine I discoverd it was very misleading. In order to enforce the warranty you must pack the juicer and ship it accross country at your expense. You must also include a $29.00 check with returned product and the recipient would notify you how they will proceed. In essence, this so-called life time warranty requires that you spend over 30% of the purchase price of the item without guarantee that they will either provide you a new juicer. I thus proceeded to place the juicer where it belongs, in the garbage. I have been a big fan of Jack Lalanne since I was a child. I was very disappointed to find that he has allowed his name to be used by scam artists. I purchased a new juicer at a much lower price and better quality. Needless to say, I do not recommend the Jack Lalanne juicer.

Customer Review: Very disappointed
Summary: 2 Stars

I grew up watching (and trusting) Jack LaLanne, but after purchasing three different juicers from his cmpany, I am ready to sing his exiting song, "it's time to leave you..."
First machine we bought: I couldn't get the the bar that closes the machine to go over the top. The second machine eventually did the same thing to the point that we couldn't even open it to clean it! You would think I would stop buying his juicers, but I was so impressed with the ease of cleaning it, compared to others, that I once more, bought a third machine, and right out of the new carton, the machine did not work. When we called the manufacturer, we were told that there was a defect in the motors of that model. We're done. My advice, Jack looks like a very nice guy, but get your next juicer from a different company. I heard Champion is very good. That's going to be my next one. I love my Vitamix, but there is nothing like pure juice (without the fiber, which by the way, is easier on the digestive system).

Customer Review: Juiceman JR is Cheaper & More Feisable
Summary: 3 Stars

Product Design= 1 1/2 Stars.
I got the juicer today and the first thing I noticed that did not like was the on/off switch is in the back of it. So you have to give it a reach around to start it. The worst things about this juicer is the spout is not high enough for a normal glass. You need to use a tiny glass, which of course does not hold alot of juice. Next, there is no top/lid/roof above the spout so it spits all over the place. The big hole on top to load stuff is good if you are juicing an orange, but if you juice a carrot it smacks around like popcorn, rattles the juicer and it spits oll over the counter. It's kind of bulky and annoying to clean also. You have to unscrew the screen. I would recommend the Juiceman JR. Half the price and no quirks. The biggest joke is you can only fit a mini glass under the spout unless you put the juicer on a wooden cutting board. The spitting was obnoxious. I'am not gonna return it. But I wouldn't recommend it.

Customer Review: Decent juicer
Summary: 4 Stars

I have used only one other juicer (at work) which costs twice what the JL juicer does. It had a fairly small capacity, though and we were constantly having to empty it. Now that I use the LaLanne juicer, I realize how wet the pulp is which means inefficient extraction. When I juice mango it is inevitably in small slices and some of it goes through without being juiced. I juice a quarter of a pineapple at a time, and small slices of that end up in the pulp basket without being juiced. Once or twice I have had to stop the machine and remove the slice which was blocking the chute. Carrots and apples go through without a problem. It runs quietly and is easy to assemble and use. Parts go in the dishwasher, but I end up washing it by hand. The pulp basket needs scrubbing with a brush, but washing inside the chute is easy because it is wide enough for my hand. (Not so with juicer at work.)You can use the pulp for baking. I put mine in the compost.

Customer Review: A good machine. does what it is expected.
Summary: 4 Stars

I have had this juicer for about a year now, and feel that it is worth it. Honestly, it is not that hard to clean up. It seems durable enough when used (average at least 2-3 times a week), and so far no problems. I have read some of the other reviews, and I guess I havn't experienced any problems yet. If you use it daily or more, I guess it may become a bit cumbersome to clean every time, and durability with some of the pieces may become a problem, in reference to the plastic screw the blade turns which broke for one of the other reviewers. At this point, this machine is fun for myself and the kids to use, chewing through carrots and apples easily. I would advise to peel oranges before juicing, although the machine says you can leave them whole, It makes a difference in the taste of the juice as well as the wear on the machine. So an average juicer like me, this make a cost efficent buy. More regular juicers might shop around more.
