Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Jack LaLanne JLPJB Power Juicer Juicing Machine

Customer Review: I would never recomend
Summary: 1 Stars

When I first used this machine there was a lot of juice in the pulp. The pulp was more wet than my first Qster juicer, which only cost $30.00.
I called them and told them immediately that I wanted to return it. They told me to wait for a label to return it with.
I called my charge company and told them to cancel the payment because I am retuning the machine.
A month later and I still did not receive the label. I called them and they said they mailed it. I asked them to send another label because I never received it. They said they would send another. Weeks later I called them and told them I want to return it please give me the address of where to send it. They said they can't, I have to have the return label.
I asked to speak to the supervisor and she told me that I had to put the payment through on my charge again before I can get the label. I said I don't want it I am trying to return it. She said I have to pay for it first. She said tell your charge company to call me.
My charge company told me not to put the charge through and called them. She put us on a 3-way line. I asked for the supervisor and the girl who answered told me the supervisor was at another desk. I asked the girl who answered the phone to tell her that my charge company wants to talk to her. The supervisor refused to come to the phone.
At that point I did some research for the address to return it and sent it with a confirmation that they had to sign to prove that they received it.
I now own an Oster.
I will never buy anything from tristar again.

Customer Review: Painless Way to Get Fruits and Veggies!
Summary: 5 Stars

I love my Jack LaLanne Power Juicer. I am a 32 year old working professional with a lot of stress in my life and the juicer helps me stay healthy and ensures I get all of my servings of fruits and vegetables daily. I find that the process of preparing the produce, juicing, and clean up requires about 20 minutes of my time, so it's not for people who are looking for a breakfast they can grab on the way out the door in the morning. I find it most convenient to only handwash the blade and filter and then to rinse the rest of the components and put them into the dishwasher. That saves me a lot of hassle. Some fruits and vegetables are easier to juice than others. The manual provides a useful explanation of these and how to best juice the more difficult produce. I love the taste of the juice, even vegetables I wouldn't think I'd enjoy. Some vegetables (like broccoli and spinach) are tougher to take than others, but I find that adding half a Granny Smith apple will brighten the taste of any vegetable! The juicer can also be used to make mixed drinks from scratch, like bloody marys and screwdrivers. I also enjoy having fresh squeezed juice for guests when they come to stay with us. To me, all of the benefits I receive from the juicer are well worth the bit of hassle that comes from clean up. I would highly recommend the Power Juicer to anyone who is already kind of a health nut or just feels good when they know they are taking steps to improve their health.

Customer Review: It dose what is says it can do.
Summary: 4 Stars

It will do anything that has a consistency even remotely close to an apple. Any of your solid fruits veggies, carrot, cucumber, beat, kohlrabi, potato, fennel anything like that. Now it dose have some draw backs, the screen gets clogged on a regular bases, the entrance mouth thoe nice for hole things dose not like small stuff. Parsley for example needs to be put in densely or waded up, even then there is still a good about of pulp from small stuff you put it. The pulp that comes out if farley dry, but when the screen gets full the pulp is typical of low end centrifugal juicers.

Now here is what I like, IT'S QUIET!!!, no really you can actually use an "inside voice" while juicing (a vary pleasant surprise that, that was true), POWER it's got power to spare the base IS the motor, one big induction motor. It has not slowed down excessively yet, not one time. From what I've used in the past it's short comings are made up buy how easy and fast it is to clean. I only juice about a glass at a time so this may not apply to you... but for me it takes every bit of 8 minutes to clean AND dry after juicing total. All you got to do is use the sprayer before it dries up. Also it seems to be holding up to stains, but again I fully clean it soon after juicing.

I've seen many juicers and had a few my self, this is not the best one but for around $100 it not a bad deal for moderate home use.

Customer Review: Surprisingly, it is as advertised

Joe-South Carolina

I purchased this unit for our house to make juices, smoothies etc. for the family.

Being an engineer, I am immediately skeptical of EVERY product on an infomercial but decided to order this one ONLY because of the sentence in the comercial where Jack states that "if it is made by man- don't eat it".

With that said, I was expecting something "cheap" and junk and was pleasantly surprised. So far, mine has had almost daily marathon usage and been washed, steam cleaned and put thru the dishwasher in excess of 100 times now.

The unit is very well made, and really does make a lot of juice.

There ARE some "things" the prospective purchaser does need to know.

This unit has several safety interlocks on it- you MUST assemble it correctly and aligned or it will NOT power up or the cutter will bind.

you need to clean the cutter with a toothbrush because water does not always get all the pulp from the small holes( if they clog, it will simply pulverize the object and not juice it)

Do NOT put over-ripe fruit or banannas in it( see above-it is in the manual- but I didnt read it until after I did it)

Lastly, you MUST start the unit and let it come to speed before inserting any fruit- this normal because any high RPM low voltage motor sacrifices torque for RPM's

Customer Review: Buyer Beware, Major design flaw in this juicer.

I purchased this after buying the Hamilton Beach wide mouth. The Jack Lalanne juicer is a joke. I placed a small apple in the shoot, first piece of anything to go into the machine. The apple made it halfway before getting stuck, the funny thing is what it got stuck on, the blades. There is a quarter size space in the center of the blade wheel, it only has four small blades in the center about the radius of a pea. These blades get immediately clogged causing the produce to get caught on this quarter sized blank space and is unable to get processed. I took the apple out and I could see the indent of the small blades in the center, then nothing but smoothness where the quarter sized gap is, then the groves where the actual bladed made contact. I'm not a small man, I put enough weight on the pusher to slow the motor to half its rotation, but it wasn't enough to make juice. I cleaned it and immediately packed it up, the next day I returned it at Target. I have a $20 black and Decker model I picked up at job lots, thing works great, pulp is literally dry, the only down side is I have to cut everything real small to fit it through the shoot, it more than triples my prep time. I am know stuck once again trying to find a good juicer with a wide shoot, any suggestions cause I'm 0 for 2 on my own, and I have put a lot of time into researching this.
