I admit that I am a closet kitchen utensil freak and have several of the Henckels brand knives along with other gourmet cooking ware close at hand. There are but a few brands I trust enough to buy sight unseen and this bread knife did not fail to measure up. It's fairly heavy compared to the one it replaced and works much faster and accurately even on very thin slices without leaving crumbs dispersed in a 5 foot radius. It may seem like a lot of money for a knife that does one thing (cut bread) but keep in mind that if you always hand wash it then dry it and don't cut tin cans with it, it will always serve you well, be a pleasure to use and your kids will fight over it when you're gone.

J.A. Henckels Twin Signature 8" offset bread knife is perfect for cutting all those rustic bread with ease. The offset blade allows you to cut through the bread with out brushing your knuckles on the cutting board.The handles on Twin Signature cutlery feature the traditional three rivets and visible full tang, and are stylishly curved not only to feel good but look more contemporary. And, for a spot of color, the red Zwilling logo is permanently embedded in one side. Like all premium knives from Zwillings J.A. Henckels, the upscale partner of Henckels International, the Twin Signature blades are Friodur ice-hardened, made from high-carbon, no-stain steel, and are laser-sharpened for a durable edge. Stamped rather than forged, the knives do not feature bolsters, which makes them lighter than most.
This eight-inch serrated bread knife is designed with an offset handle that allows it more leverage and height for cutting through the thickest, crustiest loaves of bread. Made in Germany and covered by a lifetime warranty, this knife makes an excellent gift for a baker or bread lover.
