Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of J.A. Henckels International Everedge 13-Piece Knife Set with Bonus Cheese Knife

Customer Review: Serrated blades????
Summary: 1 Stars

I hate these knives!!! I'm currently looking for a replacement set. I was excited when I first got them...with a name like Henkels and the ever sharp "everedge" blade, how could I go wrong? Believe me, you don't want the "everedge" blade unless you like ripping everything. That's pretty much what your doing with these knives, sawing everything instead of slicing or cutting. For delicate things (i.e. cutting sashimi) it just won't do!!! Serrated fine for some purposes (i.e. bread knife), you just don't want it on every knife.

Customer Review: THESE are Henkels??
Summary: 1 Stars

I was visiting my brother and his wife over Thanksgiving and while helping in the kitchen I attempted to use these knives. They were awful! I couldn't cut raw sweet potatoes with them. They have a tiny serrated edge (thus the claim to be "ever sharp"). If you are looking for a good set of knives, do yourself a favor and get the real thing. I use Chicago knives in my kitchen and just keep an edge on them -- I only have to sharpen them a few times a year. I've had them for decades. I also have Henkels, but prefer the Chicago.

Customer Review: Affordable and Well-Made Knife Set
Summary: 5 Stars

I was very happy with the price of this product. Obviously, these aren't knives that you will pass on to your grandchildren, but they are knives that you will use for a number of years before graduating to another knife set. The knives are super sharp, and they look great in the wooden block. They are well made, and they fit nicely in the palm of my hand. I highly recommend them for college students, singles and any other person who wants a well-crafted knife set but doesn't need them to last for the next thirty years.

Customer Review: Made in China
Summary: 1 Stars

Although i have not purchased this set, i will tell you that any 13 piece knife set from Henckels for under $40 is definately made in china, which basically means it sucks. Although they may be fine bang for your buck, if you really want quality then buy a set made in Germany. Brands like Henckels and Wusthoff are exceptional knives made in Germany however they have factories in china which make cheaper knives with far inferrior quality but still bare the prestigious name. Just a thought, cheers.

Customer Review: For $40 I'll give it five stars
Summary: 5 Stars

It's a J.A. Henckels so the warranty is going to be pretty decent, if the materials and craftmanship were overlooked a bit on this particular set. I got this as a gift for my sister a couple of years ago. She's not particular about things and isn't wise to the fact that not one of my Henckel knives cost less than what this whole set cost. Four years later, my sister still likes her set. Says it is holding up well. What more can you ask of a $40 set that comes with a block and a brand name?
