Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of J.A. Henckels International Everedge 13-Piece Knife Set with Bonus Cheese KnifeCustomer Review: good buy for the price Summary: 4 Stars
When we bought the set, I wasn't expecting anything that one would get from a $300 set. I am very big on knives and tend to be overly picky when it comes to buying them.
When buying a knife, one should understand that a good set costs anywhere between $300 and $500. That is if you need the best quality there is out there on a market.
For the price, this set it very good. The knives are well balanced and sharp.
The set is good for everyday use if you do not do exteme amount of cooking. Otherwise, I would suggest spending around $150 and buying a couple of knives that would do the job well.
Customer Review: decent if you can get them on sale Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this set in 2002 so I thought I'd give my opinion after 7 years of use.
Theses knives have been great but now they are feeling a bit worn. We use the 8" chef's knife and 5" steak knives almost daily.
Here's the negative: I've started reading about knives and the main thing I've learned is that the best knives are those that you can sharpen. You cannot sharpen these knives because the serrations are too fine. The next knife set will be mostly non-serrated.
In summary, for an entry-level knife set these are perfect. Try to pick these up for around $25 if you can.
Customer Review: Henckels International Everedge Summary: 3 Stars
Nice set for the price. I have cut myself more with these knives then any others I own. The everedge does not make for a smooth cutting motion but instead the edge catches and then releases and you don't really know when. I would buy the set again if I could not afford a better set. The steak knives are a great add on. My set did not come with them but a set of silverwear I bought, they came as a bonus. I bought two sets so I got 10 steak knives and I love them.Cutting cooked steak is not as dangerous has cutting uncooked. The knife's I cut myself the most with are the bread and chefs knife'.
Customer Review: Poor Quality Summary: 1 Stars
I order this knife set for our Bahama home knowing that with this low price, they could not be a good as the J.A. Henckes I have at my home in the States. But, I thought, J.A. Henckels would not put their name on junk. They arrived at a friends house and he brought them to me in the Bahamas.
Was, I disappointed. They feel cheap and the kind of Knife that you would buy at Dollar General Store. They cut and perform the same way.
I just ordered a (one)Chef Knife and when it arrives, I going to give this set away. I would rather have one good knife that a set of junk.
Customer Review: GREAT SET OF KNIVES! Summary: 5 Stars
I have 2 sets of these knives after purchase of this most recent set because they didn't cost an arm and leg! The 1st set I've had for approx. 10 years. They are great! Easy to care for and definitely get the job done. The information that comes with them suggests that you not put them in the dishwasher, but I've always put them in the dishwasher anyway because they weren't expensive and my old ones still look new! I also like them because there are no "exposed" screws in the handles - they look expensive but are very reasonably priced. Great product!
