These silicon Orka oven mitts are better than your traditional fabric-based oven mitt. However, I have felt uncomfortable heat upon contact with oven-temperature metal for more than 2 seconds. This mitt is by no means impervious to oven-temperature heat. I also think that "glove" style hot-hands with fingers are much better than "mitten" style hot-hands as they allow one to grab unwieldy items much more easily.Customer Review: it's the right mitt for the right jobs

This is my first choice mitt out of the drawer, for all tasks. My daughter never uses it. This is the perfect mitt for using in or near boiling liquids or anything really goopy. It cleans up VERY easily. It is, however, limited by its lack of pliability. If you can't get a firm grip on a pan, use a different mitt. You'll know which ones. These are the best thing since sliced bread. Besides being safer than pot holders they are waterproof. Wonderful for lifting a large roasted turkey from the pan to the platter.(you need two)Then just wash them off like you're washing your hands and they are ready to go again. No more knuckle burns from oven racks from grabbing cookie sheets either.Customer Review: A waste of money.

We bought one of these a couple of months ago, and the thumb piece CRACKED just as my boyfriend was reaching into a 550+ degree oven to remove our pizza. More than a week later, he still has a nasty burn where his thumb came into contact with the oven grate and hot pizza stone.
COMPLETELY UNSAFE. I can't recommend this to anyone.

I purchased 2 mitts hoping that after receiving them, I would not have to be washing my potholders and oven mitts every other day! However, these silicone mitts have been thrown into a pile with every other thing I don't use because they are too stiff and very unmanageable to work with! You are wasting your money if you purchase these mitts!
