Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Isi 11-Inch Silicone Oven Mitt, BlueCustomer Review: Goofy but Works Even on Hot Grill Grids, Easy to Clean Summary: 4 Stars
I have just ordered the second one on Amazon after buying the first locally... looked really silly, but this standard-sized (hence 4 instead of 5 stars) mitt works as advertised (I think up to 650 degrees now? Was listed as good to 500 degrees when I bought the first one.) How many oven mits do that?! Fit my medium-to-large women's hands fine. I was able to adjust grate while gas grill on, and handle shish-kebab skewers as they were cooking and move and readjust... and the gloves did not stain, in fact they washed on top rack of dishwasher... lots cleaner than my (much prettier! but poorer performing) cloth ones, including my cherished Pampered Chef cream fuzzy ones. The lower rating is because I wish it were a couple of inches longer, like the extra-long Pampered Chef oven mitt. (It of course also does not make my kitchen more of an accessorized "House Beautiful" fashion statement..but it sure works!)
Customer Review: useless for bakers Summary: 3 Stars
When I saw this product on tv, I told my husband I needed one. I mostly use a mitt for the oven. When my old mitt was destroyed, I rushed to buy this one. How foolish of me not to try it on as if I were buying clothes. I bought a dangerous $20 oven mitt. It probably should've been designed like Arby's Oven mitt spokesman with the thumb beside the pointer finger instead of under it. It poorly fits both men and women, and I saw a woman advertising it on hgtv's kitchen gadget show. I can't securely grip cookie sheets or the handles of my pizza stone or any pot I put in the oven. I can, on the other hand, grab my oven shelf. For those thinking of buying this product, test it out in the store to see if it suits you. See if you can grab handles of pots, and see if you have inches of space between your fingertips and the glove's tip. I always have to remind others using my mitt to be careful!
Customer Review: The honeymoon is over. Summary: 3 Stars
When I bought these (2 of them), I was in love. I could hold ANYTHING and not get burnt. I could even pick up an entire roasted chicken and transfer it to a platter - and then rinse the mitts under running water.
What has soured my opinion? Flexibility - or the lack of it.
Firstly, these mitts are BIG. If you have smaller hands, fuggetaboudit! They are hard to keep in place (i.e. on your hands!) primarily because they are thick and don't bend very easily. The mitts do have a "tread" of grooves which help to keep whatever you are holding from slipping - but they're still kind of tough to maneuver.
Bottom line: they protect your hands in the oven and are great for fishing something out of a pot of boiling water...but they are awkward and can cause cooking mishaps!
Customer Review: Great for the oven, not so "hot" for the grill Summary: 3 Stars
I bought these to use with my charcoal grill, as my cloth mitts caught fire. I liked the fact they were safe up to 500 degrees, so I figured, why not? My grill gets that hot.
After about a month of using them, I got really annoyed with the gloves. Even with the first use of them, my hands got very hot when they were over the grill, even with the gloves on. I started to get a minor 1st degree burn each time.
I called the manufacturer, and they sent me 2 new gloves at no cost (really nice of them). Unfortunately, these felt exactly the same. They have now been relegated to my kitchen for oven use only.
Sorry Orka, but your gloves just don't cut it for the hot charcoal grill.

yes, this works best if you have large hands, or if very strong hands. I have played piano for over 30 years, so had no problems with the thickness of the glove, or the fact that it takes a bit of strength to grip things.
And its true, its not for small nobs, small finger manipulations.
It works best for picking up roasters, cast iron pots and pans, le Creseut (sp?) type of pots, lobster pots - big heavy dangerous items.
I used to always have a collection of 1 to 2 inch burns on the back of my hands and my wrists during the holidays from my holiday baking - no more using the Orca.
So for me, its serves its purpose wonderfully.
