Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Instant PotŪ IP-CSG60 5-in-1 Programmable Pressure Cooker, 6.33qt, Latest 3rd Generation Technology, Stainless Steel Cooking Pot and Exterior

Customer Review: Great product backed by great customer service.
Summary: 5 Stars

I don't typically have unreasonable expectations of products and tend to be happy with a fair product for a fair price but, I have to admit, this is a great product for a great price with customer care that I don't always get even if I've spent A LOT more on a service or product.

My cooker arrived damaged. There was a significant ding in the side. I sent off an e-mail to the supplier and received a response promptly. They asked for photos of the damage. I provided it and they contacted me again, told me that the base would still work, as the area of damage did not compromise any functions, and said to go ahead and use it if I needed to until my new base arrived. They should have more in next week. All of this occurred via e-mail and all occurred in a single afternoon.

I'm currently using my dented base and its great. I'm an experienced pressure cooker user so I'm very comfortable with the concept but this is a complete enhancement of all of the pressure cookers functions. I owned a really nice electric pressure cooker that ran over two hundred dollars and, although I was happy with it, I don't think I could compare it to this one. This really does replace so many of your separate cooking devices. I've cooked everything in it since I took it out of the box. I steamed potatoes with a tiny bit of water in it...it automatically sets the steam time at 30 minutes...stirred in milk and butter and served it. I made chicken wings in it with the steam function, and I made refried beans with the bean cooking function. It took two cycles to do the beans. The first time I did it they were properly softened but not cooked. The second time cooked them to perfection. You can increase the time if you want to cook them in one go. Its very easy to clean and because its shaped more like a mixing bowl than an insert with prongs, it washes up without worry or fuss.

Another nice thing is that it doesn't spew all over. Beans require a lot of water and in traditional cookers I get a lot of steam. This creates issues if you put your steamer under a cabinet or anywhere that may suffer damage when sprayed with continuous steam for awhile. Even the beans didn't result in excessive discharge...there was obviously more than with potatoes, but compared to conventional steamers it was insignificant. Its very quiet. It did make some noise with the beans, but far less than I expected.

The seal looks like silicon. I was a little worried because it doesn't look very heavy duty, but I think silicon may hold up a lot better than rubber in the long run...so its probably comparable to the old rubberized rings I'm used to.

I hate complexity and my last electronic pressure cooker was easy enough to learn, but I did have to learn sequences for programming. This one is one button function unless you are using manual mode and if you don't like the time that shows up when you push the button, you just push the plus or minus button to change it. Very easy to use.

I was also worried about the safety features because I wasn't sure there was an actual lock on the lid...and I didn't see that safety feature listed in the manual and, even if that would seem like a common sense feature, I try not to take common sense for granted when buying anything. But the lid does lock. You don't have to worry about someone opening it prior to complete pressure release, its just a hidden feature.

I love that there is no aluminum or non-stick stuff on it...no funny smells to get past. This is just a really great product and I'm enjoying it stress free because the customer service folks that work for this company are really a cut above.
