Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Insta-Pull All-Metal Gear Wine OpenerCustomer Review: Great value, buy from QVC Summary: 5 Stars
I just bought the Insta-Pull from QVC. It has great construction with a solid feel. It's a better value than the Metrokane Rabbit and pulls them out better too. Rated third by Consumer Reports after the Screwpull Elegance and Vacu Vin WineMaster.
I recommend buying it from QVC if you want the wine ensemble. Its a 5 piece set consisting of the Insta-Pull, foil cutter, drip collar, replacement worm and a wine preservation pump. The box is nice too with the inside lined in a soft, red velvety material. Makes a great gift.
I bought it for $16.99 plus shipping ($4.72, can be discounted for more) and $1.86 tax in NY for a total of $23.39.
Customer Review: Easy and fun! Summary: 5 Stars
I don't drink wine that often, but I do remember the trouble I used to have opening wine bottles with a corkscrew back in my waitressing days .. if only I had this wine opener! I got mine recently and have used it a few times. Once I figured out how it was supposed to work, I had absolutely no problem opening wine bottles! I plan on using it a lot over the holiday season, I'm sure it will save a lot of time! The opener is well-made and pretty sturdy.. and it does what it's supposed to do with ease! I bought a few of these as gifts this year as well for friends who drink a lot of wine. I highly recommend it!
Customer Review: Going strong... thus far! Summary: 5 Stars
Mine, too, has been working well since I bought it a few months ago. I own several corkscrews of this style: I throw lots of parties and like to have several bottle openers around so we're not thrown into a tizzy if one is misplaced during the course of the evening. I own one that I bought for more than 4 times the cost of this one and while it feels more sturdy, both corkscrews do their job equally well and no damaged corks! I guess I worry that this one will break after a few months, based on other reviewers' comments, but for now I think it works great, and gives real value for such a low price.
Customer Review: Still working like a charm! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for my mom for her birthday. We had the same experience as the previous reviewer with a slightly awkward first attempt ... but the second opened "like a charm," and so did the third, and the fourth, and all the others since then. This wine opener is very solidly made, and does its job beautifully. Plus, whenever the "worm" wears out, it will be very easy to replace it with another one. This is a really great gadget, and makes opening any bottle of wine easy and really kind of fun! I'm going to give more of them as gifts, and have requested one for myself!
Customer Review: Very cheaply made, *spend more* Summary: 1 Stars
I own one of these wine openers (The Connoisseur), a solidly built one I purchased from Costco. I *love* it. Brag about it. Find excuses to open bottles of wine. Therefore, when I saw the low price on this item, I bought 2 for a couple of friends. I wish I hadn't gone so cheap. These are so poorly manufactured, I wont even give them away. Mostly plastic, every part is shaky qnd on the verge of falling off or apart. Stay away from this item, very poorly made. I recommend a Houdini instead as a low cost alternative to the Rabbit, which is what I have now ordered twice and given away happily.
