Every time I burn this incense, I remember all the 5-star reviews on Amazon that prompted me to buy it. Then I feel torn between letting the uninterrupted torrent of five-stars continue, or post a review that, as an incense lover, provides an honest (if dissenting) opinion. I like this incense, but I don't love it. I am disappointed because I imagined something heavenly -- something even better than nag champa! -- and I did not find it with this incense.
My first impression is that it smells like soap. That's not necessarily bad. When you burn it, it smells like smoky soap. The other day I put something through my dishwasher that should not have been there, and when the burning smell first floated to my nostrils I thought "Gosh, I don't remember lighting the Song of India temple incense ..." I realized then that I hadn't lit it. My dishwasher was burning some piece of plastic.
I haven't been to the temples in India. Perhaps this smells just like them. I don't mind the smell, but something about it seems a bit off. I strongly prefer the nag champa.

Authentic, fresh, Song of India, Indian Temple incense sticks. This is a lovely scent which evokes images of holy temples in India. One customer wrote and told me that, "They hold the scent of basil leaves, lilac, grass and plants to me". That is a lovely and accurate description of the smell. There is (1)box containing 120 sticks. R. Expo, the manufacturer, donates a portion of money from the sale of each box to the needy children of India (as stated on the box).
