Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Imusa VICTORIA-85008 Victoria Cast Iron Tortilla Press, 8-InchCustomer Review: Simple and does the job. Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this tortilla press 2 years ago and use it often. It is a simple design that is easy to use. We cut apart a 1 gallon size plastic freezer bag and use it as a liner that keeps the press clean and makes it super simple to make and transfer the tortillas. It's become the one gadget that everyone wants to use. The kids take turns getting to make their own which makes for a funner family dinner time.
Customer Review: Not made of cast iron! Summary: 1 Stars
This item is not made of cast iron. Cast iron doesn't break this easily. It arrived with the handle broken off (which, according to other reviews, is common). When I inspected break, the inside layer of the material looks a lot more like pot metal than cast iron. Piece of junk! Also, I was told by my Mexican co-worker, that this is way over priced, and she could obtain one of these for $3 or $4 elsewhere.
Customer Review: Great for corn tortillas Summary: 4 Stars
We use this to make "Gorditas" or thicker corn tortillas for chalupas (tostadas). Works perfectly for that.
We've tried on flour tortillas and haven't quite figured out how to keep dough from shrinking back a bit. It presses the dough out to 8", but then it shrinks a bit trying to get it off the wax paper (wax paper keeps dough from sticking to it). We are happy just using it for corn tortillas.
Customer Review: Don't buy this tortilla press! Summary: 1 Stars
Imusa Victoria Cast Iron Tortilla Press, 8 Inch This tortilla press arrived covered in smelly, black grease which took several washings to get off. It is not well made and does not press evenly--one side of the tortilla is always much thiner than the other. I would NOT recommend this product.
Customer Review: Great product! Summary: 5 Stars
I have been wanting a press for awhile now and when I found this one I snapped it up. It was a great price for a cast iron press. I have used it often since I received it and I love it. I found that putting the dough just off center toward the hinge side works best for a round tortilla. Too close to the lever side and you squish the dough out the sides. Overall a great buy. Love it.
