I fell in love with tortilla warmers when I was on vacation in Mexico. No matter what the meal was, a pot full of warm tortillas would be put on the table inside a little plastic warmer like this one. Delicious and convenient.
I went with this Imusa warmer because it looked like the ones I used, and it wasn't too expensive. Unfortunately I didn't read the dimensions carefully enough, and this warmer is definitely a different size than the ones I used in Mexico. It is much wider and shallower that I was expecting.
Its size is 8.5 x 8.5 x 2.8 inches, and is designed to hold a standard supermarket count of ten or so eight inch burrito tortillas. I hand-make my tortillas, which is easy and fun to do, but my tortilla press generally gives me smaller and thicker tortillas. This means I can't stick as many in the tortillas warmer as I would like and they are far away from the edges.
Aside from not matching my tortillas, its bulky size takes up a lot of room on the table. This is fine if you have a lot of space to work with but for my apartment table I can't have both the warmer and plates and food on the table at the same time! Definitely not as convenient as the little tortilla warmers I used in Mexico!
I think this Imusa warmer is designed more for people who just want the convenience of buying a stack of tortillas from the supermarket, tossing them in the microwave for a quick heat-up, then setting them on the table. Nothing wrong with that, but this is one of those items that if I had seen it in real life instead of just the online picture I wouldn't have chosen it.
Oh, and as many have said, the label is a real pain to get off. I don't know why they felt the need to use such persistent glue!
