I had read mixed reviews for this cleaner, so I just decided to buy it and try it myself. I really am impressed. I have read that the dry vac is not as good, but I think it picks up small particles, like crumbs, just fine. You have to just sweep up bigger things like cheerios. I hate to sweep and mop, and I would go weeks before I would finally get out the broom and mop. I will tell you I now clean my floors at least twice a week. I like to vacuum and so the floor mate is easy like vacuuming and I love how it picks up the dirty water and my floors sparkled when I was done. The floor looked and felt really clean. This product does come with two scrub heads, one for cleaning and a grout cleaner. I will say I was not impressed with the grout cleaning head. It did not do anything special and my grout didn't look any cleaner. Overall I absolutely love the hoover floor mate, and I highly recommend it. One year ago, we replaced all the carpeting in our home with textured vinyl. We did this because we have and love our animals; three dogs an four cats. During that year I have lugged a bucket and mop from room to room cleaning the floor. About 2 months ago I decided to try the Hoover FloorMate. I do not use the recommended cleaning liquid but prefer to use a weak white vinegar solution (half the measuring cup full per filling). Although the machine is not perfect, in my opionion it is so far above the mop and bucket there is really no comparison. I still have to wipe into the corners but the job done is generally wonderful. I do wish that the machine had one other setting. I wish it was possible to apply the cleaning solution per the scrubbing brushes without the vaccum going at all. I find that if I leave that vinegar on stubborn spots and marks for a few minutes they come up much more easily. I received this item last week and I used it immediately, so the option of returning it is unavailable. It is very good at dry vacuum, but each time it is used the filter must be cleaned and that is a dirty job, even if there was only dust to clean up. Totally not worth the effort to take out this machine that weighs quite a bit compared to other vacuums (I own a couple of Oreck's) and using a microfiber cloth. Both do the job just as well without the effort.
As for the "wet" part, it is totally ineffective. After using it on my kitchen floor, with the grout attachment, I got a a mop and long handled scrub brush and really got the job done.
Further, using baking soda and water is still the best answer for tile. My hard wood floors I dry mop and only used liguid hard wood floor cleaner on spots.
Since I used it I will give it to GoodWill. At least the person who buys it for them will not be paying $140. USD.

I've had mine for about 4 years now and I've never had to have it serviced. The mopping on this works great if your floors aren't that bad. If you are the type of person that can keep up with your floors it works great. However, if you let your floors go too long, you may want to just drag out the mop as it takes a long time to clean built up dirt, etc. I usually spray the "bad" spots with some spic and span first to loosen the dirt and make the job faster. I've only used the vacuum portion a couple of times before realizing, it just doesn't work. It can only pick up very tiny particles as it has only a tiny space to fit dirt through. That is the only thing that really stinks. You still have to sweep your floors first. However, every time I use it, I KNOW my floors are clean! It is also a good feeling knowing that you aren't putting dirty mop water back on your floors. And, the best part is that it saves your back from traditional mopping!Customer Review: Hoover Floor mate

I purchased the Hoover Floor Mate hard floor cleaner, and loved most things about it, but I have only used it 4 times and it has already stopped working, it trips the breaker every time I turn it on, it is very frustrating because it is virtually new!! I am told that Hoover is now not owned by the USA which I was un aware of, and that it is hard to get part and service for it and that it could be months for it to get fixed!!!
I love the way it cleans, the cleaner that comes with it smells bad I didnt like it, and it is pretty loud, but it does a good job of cleaning...just wish it would have lasted me more than four cleanings for a 180 dollars
Update turns out I took it to the dealer they told me to, to have it fixed and it has a bad motor, I used it four times, and they tell me because HOOVER is now owed by China, then it will take quite some time to fix it maybe three months, I am not that impressed....
