Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Holmes 7 Twin Window Fan, HAWF2021-U Customer Review: Poorly made: rattles and requires manual reversing Summary: 1 Stars The fan is billed as being both exhaust and intake. Well, yeah, if you want to unplug the fan, hoist your window, pull out the fan while holding the window up, turn it around while holding the window up, reposition the fan and extensions (which has its own difficulty, noted below) while holding the window up, and plug it in again. Yes, if you do all that each time, it is indeed both exhaust and intake. The problem is that I want to switch it back and forth again more often than it's worth to do all of that. Plus, the fan blades are very close to the grills and the mechanism is maybe a bit loose, which means that any light tilt in either direction causes the blades to hit the grill and make an INCREDIBLE amount of noise (it's fairly noisy without that going on anyway). So that means each time you flip the fan from exhaust to intake or back, you need to spend quite a bit of time making sure that it's exactly vertical, with no front or back tilt. RIDICULOUS. I replaced this with the truly reversable Lasko 2138. It's quiet, keeps my room cool, and goes from intake to exhaust with the flip of a switch. What a piece of junk the Holmes is!
