I purchased this item and it is cute. I washed it before use by hand and it came out fine. We melted the chocolate, per instructions, and put it in the dish. It kept the chocolate warm and melted. It worked very well. (for those who said it doesn't melt chocolate, it says right in the directions to melt it first)
After using it, I washed it up and noticed the paint is starting to come off the outside already. The wording on the fondue forks rubbed off as well. I'm sure it will still be cute when the red paint comes totally off, but for now, I have a chipped red hershey kiss...

I gave this fondue to my dad for father's day and he absolutely LOVES it!! He actually set it on display in the kitchen. I am very surprised at the price of this fondue! Just make sure to melt the chocolate before putting it in, this is meant to keep it warm, not to melt it.Customer Review: so so

We thought this was very cute & was inexpensive. You must heat chocolate first & don't plan on keeping it warm without a scorch. Maybe if you use a very low wicked candle & wax. Also, don't put in dishwasher- the paint comes off...oops!Customer Review: Only a warmer

Not really a "fondue maker" but a fondue "warmer" Items have to be melted or heated or whatever beforehand and transferred into this unit to just keep warm. Would not buy again nor recommendCustomer Review: The color is wrong

The actual item is in solid bright red, nothing like the picture shown and the gold and silver. So I had to return it. But if you don't like the shine then its a keeper.
