The knife block arrived on time and is an excellent value for the price. There are slots shaped for just about any knife or implement you might have. Too often knife blocks have only standard slots and I have some decidedly non-standard shaped knives and sharpening tools. This one handles every shape. Another thing I like is that the slots are long and deep enough so that even the longest knife doesn't poke out the bottom and gouge the counter top. The only downside to that depth is that the knife block is therefore very long and sticks out from the wall more than others, so it has to be placed sideways or in a corner out of the way.Customer Review: Lots of mismatched knives, but they fit great and look great

Over 30+ years I've collected a mismatched assortment of knives, many of which I'm very attached to even if they weren't particularly expensive. (My husband is meticulous about keeping them sharpened, so that helps a lot.)
I've bought a few "storage solutions" over the years. This storage block is the first I've ever had that accommodates nearly all of them and still doesn't take up much space on the counter. The wood is nice, the variety of slots is fine for my needs, and I couldn't be happier with the price. A very good value!
And I've stopped searching for a better way to keep all my knives handy.

My wife received a Santoku knife set with a sharpening steel for Christmas. We bought the Henckels 20-Slot storage block because it has several slots wide enough for these types of knives. We just received the block this morning, filled it with our knives, shears, and the sharpening steel, and we're very satisfied.
The block is made with quality hardwood, no burrs or sharp edges, and it has four little rubber feet to keep it steady and off of the countertop.
As an added bonus, we've now de-cluttered our silverware drawer. Nice.

After looking at several different knife blocks (including the "ploosh" type with the plastic rods), my girlfriend and I decided on this one. We have since been very happy with our decision; this knife block feels really sturdy and gets the job done well. Also, one thing I was pleasantly surprised by was the fact that the slits for the knives go all the way through the block, meaning there is plenty of air circulation to allow excess moisture to escape (which keeps the whole thing cleaner and dryer). The knife block is made in Malaysia with typical hardwood. Nothing fancy. It's good for the price. What matters is that 19 slots, especially a slot for a cleaver that I really need it. It holds 2 santoku knives very well. The 8 steak knives slots are very useful that use to store paring and peeling knives instead. Also easy to acccess and grab the knives. It looks big in the picture and it is a lot bigger than my old standard block, but it doesn't take much more room since I put it in the corner. Happy that I bought it.
