Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Healthy Juicer - Manual Hand Powered Wheatgrass Juicer - Wheat grass juicerCustomer Review: A Piece of Junk Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased this device specifically to juice wheatgrass. First of all, the suction cup at the bottom is worthless and the clamp is clumsily engineered and can only be used on a counter with a BIG lip on it, which in my kitchen, is in front of the dishwasher with the dishwasher's door open, which looks rediculous. Then, in order to get any yield whatsoever, one must crank then reverse then crank again to have anything come out of the tiny hole near the crank (another design flaw.) On top of this, it takes almost a whole 18x24" tray of wheatgrass just to make two one ounce shots, and that is with the compression cap screwed on the end. Something is wrong here...they only use half that amount at Wild Oats with their Champion juicers. Juice leaks out the handle, out the front and everywhere else except where it's supposed to go...in the cup. After doing this a few times and making a HUGE mess of grass clippings, green (staining) juice all over my countertop and me and a tedious 20 minutes to set it up, juice the grass and clean up, it's better I just stay with going to the local juice bar and spending the three bucks. I know I should not be angry because "you get what you pay for" but geez, this device was endorsed by the Hippocrates Health Institute and I trusted that endorsement!
Customer Review: Low juice yield Summary: 2 Stars
Sturdy little unit. Suction cup works great on my granite countertop. Juice yield quantity was very disappointing, though. Now, I was not expecting to see a deluge of green juice issuing forth from this device. However, I was hoping to get more than I got. I ran one 4" x 4" containter of wheatgrass through this juicer and got only a tablespoon or so of juice. At $2 a tray, it would cost around $10 to get a satifying amount of wheatgrass juice. I can't afford that on a daily basis. The picture on the box shows a nice, full glass of juice. Yeah, right. You would have to run an entire meadow's worth of grass through this juicer to achieve that.
The "waste" that came out of the front orifice was very wet with juice. I had the end cap screwed on nice and tight along with the end screw cap. I also tried juicing some carrots. Same thing. Wet material comes out the front, a sparse amount of juice reaches the discharge tray.
I think that the "grinding chamber" has too big a gap in it or something. It simply isn't extracting a sufficient amount of juice. I wonder if I could do something to improve this unit's efficiency. I really like it and really want to continue taking wheatgrass juice.
Sadly, to you all, I cannot recommend this juicer.
Customer Review: Good choice for beginner "juicer" - But broken in 3 months! Summary: 1 Stars
Sorry, but I had to edit this review. After just 3 months the crank arm of the juicer broke. Suggest you get a metal one. It is returnable but you pay the shipping and you have to have the original packing slip (I don't have it.). Live and learn....
Previous Review: I am really enjoying the Lexen Healthy Juicer. It's low-cost, quiet and earth-friendly and because of the clear plastic construction, you can see your beautiful veggies being processed into life-giving juices. While it is sold for wheat grass, I've had great results with cabbage, carrots, parsley, lemon, celery, apples and more. There is a "learning curve" with the product, so be patient with yourself the first few times as you learn the best positions for everything. Just a note: if you have a kitchen counter with a "lip" on it you will not be able to use the unit on the counter and will need to use a table. Also, even with a few days of practice, I still need 20 minutes to make my morning juice. It takes time to set it up, prepare the veggies, do the juicing, and rinse all the componets. I can't imagine that the electric juicers require much less time, though, and I like this special quiet time with the beautiful life-giving food.
Customer Review: Amazing Juicer for the Low price Summary: 4 Stars
I did some research for a few days on buying the right wheatgrass and leafy green juicer.
I have a small kitchen, so no room for a large electric one.
I didn't want to spend much money either.
I was so surprised at how much fun this juicer is.
I pulled it out of the box, snapped it together and started with my wheat grass.
It is a clever little machine. It does a great job squeezing all the pulp out of whatever you put in there.
I made Wheat grass, Collard Green and Carrot Juice already.
I can't wait to make some more!!
The few cons that I see are the many parts that are involved.
I wish it came with some kind of container to house everything in, that way you wouldn't loose all the little pieces.
Also, there is some juice that leaks out of the front nozzle where the pulp is extracted from.
That make a little bit of a mess.
I also love the suction cup feature.
I wasn't crazy about having a vice on my counter top.
This one has the suction and the vice.
You definitely don;t need the vice for the leafy greens.
Customer Review: with higher yield, I can grow less grass Summary: 5 Stars
I've had the L'equip 509 Visor Juicer for around 6 months, and it did all right until I started juicing wheat grass. Now the machine's auger is bent and the end keeps popping off. I was going to buy a Sampson Kyoto, but I thought I'd try this little manual juicer. I figured I could always use it as a back up.
This little gem is giving more juice yield than the Visor, doesn't seem to take any longer to juice, much easier to clean (the Visor cleans very easy), no foam, turns even slower than the electric models, and it is so quiet. I seem to have developed a nice little rhythm that is so peaceful, and I get to drink cool juice with no foam. Now, with higher yield, I can grow less grass, and save electricity. I know that it is not much, but...
I'm going to buy another one of these Healthy Juicer - Wheatgrass and Vegetable Juicer, and now they've knocked another 10 bucks of it, so it is indeed a deal.
