Customer Review: It works, but isn't ideal

I bought this to make dessert for my husband and I, rather than having to purchase higher-priced (and higher calorie) ice creams when the craving strikes. It does make a soft, tasty frozen dessert- depending on what you put in it. On the other hand, since you have to add the ingredients to the freezer bowl before you can turn on the motor, things have a tendency to freeze to the side. This can make the lid pop up a bit during mixing so the dasher kind of hovers over the frozen layer. This doesn't make it impossible to use, but you do have to sit there and hold the lid down a little sometimes.
If you want store-bought style ice cream, or enough for more than two people, then I would suggest looking into other machines (especially ones with a hole in the lid to add ingredients). If you would just like a quick chilly snack, this works pretty well. I've only used it a few times, so I can't comment on longevity yet.
On a side note: I don't use the recipes in the booklet, but a can of evaporated milk mixed with some sugar (or instant latte mix) works rather nicely for two bowls. So does a can of lite coconut milk with a little extract, shredded coconut and some sugar syrup. It does generally take 12-15 minutes of running to produce a nice, smooth texture.
