Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Hamilton Beach 80674 Water Filter Replacement Pods and Handle

Customer Review: Short handle is too long - required cutting
Summary: 2 Stars

I have the Hamilton Beach 48465 Brewstation Summit Ultra 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker and this filter set does not fit properly. The set comes with 2 handles and an extender handle, however even the shorter handle is too long - not allowing for the large coffee urn to settle properly into the base. I had to cut the smaller handle to make it work.

The coffee does have a better taste when using this filter but the cost for each of these is a bit high.

Know upon buying this for the Hamilton Beach 48465 Brewstation Summit Ultra 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker that a bit of modification is necessary.

Added on 3/11/10 - I have stopped using this due to the difficult nature of fitting it in the coffee maker. I do not recommend using it with the Brewstation.

Customer Review: Believe it or not these really do help....
Summary: 4 Stars

I have had my coffemaker for over 2 years and in that time I have known that I needed to buy new filters. And after much searching I knew that the only place to find these filters is here at Amazon. But I kept putting off the purchase because I felt that $10 was a little excessive for only 2 filters and that there was no need to have another pod holder when the one that came with the coffepot was still good. Well I finally broke down and purchased the new filters and now I am glad I did. The filters do actually help improve the taste of the coffee. The first batch of coffee I made with the new filter tasted much better than the coffee I had made the morning before. It is just a shame that the filters only last 60 days. All I can say is that if you can afford to do it, buy these filters and enjoy a great tasting cup of coffee.

Customer Review: Alternative to Hamilton Beach RIP-OFF!
Summary: 5 Stars

You will notice I gave the product itself (water filter replacement)a 5-star rating. HOWEVER, I agree with my fellow reviewers that OTHER STORES DO NOT CARRY THIS PRODUCT, as suggested by Hamilton Beach. I have looked FOR MONTHS! I will never buy another Hamilton Beach product due to this deception. The reason for my writing this is to let readers and consumers know that I believe the THREE-pack (vs. only 2 plus the holder, which, as 1 person indicated, is unnecessary)Capresso 4440.90 charcoal water filters (no holder) will work in our HB Brew Master coffee makers. They appear to be the same size, which is probably why CAPRESSO included the dimensions in their product description while Hamilton Beach did not! I am going to try it on Amazon.com. It is $10 for the 3 filters.

Customer Review: Hard to Find
Summary: 1 Stars

We purchased our Brewmaster when they first came out. The only place I can find the water filters is from Hamilton Beach. They cost $9.99, but with shipping the cost for 2 filters plus one pod is over $15.00.

They say that these filters are available at Target, WalMart Super Stores, Ace Hardware and Bed Bath and Beyond. This week, I called each one of these stores in my city, and NONE of them have the filters! I am furious that once again I'm going to have to pay $15.00+ to get two of these filters mailed to me! Somebody, somewhere is making a small fortune off of selling these things. If you go to the Hamilton Beach website, they are charging you $20.00 for them!

Customer Review: Ridiculous
Summary: 2 Stars

Why can Hamilton Beach get away with selling a water filtered coffee maker, but does not make the filter pod available to their customers? Unable to find them anywhere even in the stores that Hamilton Beach says carries them. When I called HB they said that WalMart and Target sell them----what a joke. The people that work at the stores don't even know what you are talking about and are not even aware that the Brewstation has a water filter (pods) in some models. As long as HB keeps the prices on the filters (including a handle that you don't need)as high as they are, I know that I will not purchase any. And I won't be looking at any HB appliances in the future to buy.
