After having owned the Krups Open Master for years until it finally died a few months ago, I was a bit hesitant to try a new product. Unfortunately the Krups Open Master has been discontinued, and I had been looking for an automatic can opener that opens the can "on the side" leaving no rough edges for quite some now. This one was the only one I could find. I ordered it and was pleasantyl surprised when it performed just as well as my old Krups. For anyone else that loved their Krups, try this one out and I think you'll be happy with it.Customer Review: It does not work .... Only opens some cans .. Hamilton Junk

This is by far the worst can opener we have seen and wonder how this product can make it to production when it doesn't open all type of cans. If you purchase this unit, then you will need another can opener as well as back up. This can openr only opens about 50% of cans and we ended up using our old can opener to open the rest. We can not believe the headache and frustration this can opener caused for a houshold tool that should just work. Please please ... Save your money and frustration and buy just about anything elese but this product.Customer Review: This model is the Winner!

I did my homework and purchased this can opener after deciding to throw my old electric can opener out. I would have to try to get it lined up right about 5 times and then it would go off the track 2 or 3 times during the rotation. So frustrating. This can opener works so well....so easy....I can't believe I suffered all those years with an inferior appliance. The lid comes off at the side, nothing gets dirty on the cutter, and the opened can has a smooth edge. Don't even think about any other opener. This one is the winner. I've tried the little battery-stick on top of can type. (Actually 3 - they don't last long...)
I've bought pretty white ones from various makers. HOWEVER, this medium priced little opener is THE best I've EVER used. (I'm in my 60's, so I've use many!)
It works effortlessly. It is quiet. It cuts the "no sharp edges" way and feels solid, not fragile. It was even comfortable opening the big commercial size cans of tomato puree that I've ALWAYS had trouble opening.

I ordered this can opener after much research. I was tired of the old electric with sharp lids and the cutter always getting grubby. This can opener has been the best purchase I have made in a long time for my kitchen. The lids are smooth so no more sliced fingers, there is not a cutter that gets in the food in the can so you don't have a dirty cutter to deal with. You do have to hold the top down while the can is being opened but that is not a problem for me. I liked it so much I ordered one for my daughter and she loves it too.
