Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Hamilton Beach 67650 Big Mouth Pro Juice ExtractorCustomer Review: I confirm the good reviews are real Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of the gigs I not regret to buy. Although most parts are plastic, the quality is quite good and seem long-lasting. Very simple to use and clean. I have tried almost all fruits I can find(except bananas) and vegetables I like. The results are satisfactory. Soft fruits and veggies get wet pulp and foamy, but I guess that is with all centrifuge juicers. The manual suggest to refrigerate soft fruits first to make them a little firm. I removed seeds from apples, but for orange and grapefruit it is hard to do so, so I'm not sure whether the seeds will give something bad.
Some ways to keep cleaning easier: 1) use your own glass to catch the juice; 2) use a bag over the pulp container, so basically you have only 3 pieces to wash; 3) the most difficult to wash is the strainer, I found it easier to wash it under running hot water--to enlarge the holes, put it upside down and brush, so the pits find way to get out. I usually finish cleaning within 3 min.
For the purpose of juicing, I think this machine is simply enough, and honestly don't understand why some other brands are so expensive.
Customer Review: Simple to use, pretty easy to clean Summary: 5 Stars
This is my first juicer, and I really enjoy it.
Pros:
- Extracts a lot of juice from carrots, celery, cranberries, and other "dry" fruits and veggies.
- Has a safety function where it won't turn the blade unless it's locked down.
- Easy to clean, as long as you clean the basket before the pulp dries. I don't have a dishwasher, so this was important to me. I've used the juicer about 4x/week since I bought it, so the cleanup hasn't been a deterrent. It comes with a brush you can use to clean it, and some tips (like soaking it in a bowl of water if you can't wash it right away).
Cons:
- As other reviewers have said, a citrus juicer extracts more juice from citrus than this juicer, but the amount you get from this juicer isn't too bad.
It's pretty big, but I guess they all are.
A Tip:
- I learned this one from experience: don't push down too hard with the "pusher thing" - it will reduce the amount of juice you get. Just push hard enough to make sure the fruit/veggie is still moving down the chute.
Enjoy!
Customer Review: Great Juicer Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this juicer two months ago on the basis of the Consumer Reports review and the positive reviews here. As a first-time juicer I must say it is all it is cracked up to be. I use it daily. Easily and quickly juices veggies, which is all I have juiced, this include carrots. Also cleans up easily, especially if you add the plastic bag to the catch bin. Takes me 10 minutes to prep my veggies, juice half a glass, clean up, and put it away. I rotate through the following veggies: celery, cucumbers, broccoli, cabbage, ginger(small piece), scallion, kale, and a carrot. Within days I started to feel noticeably better, more energy, however when I went to a full glass every day, it was too much and I had to go back to half a glass. I'm a convert. I also drink the juice of one lemon twice a day, part of a regimen in today's popular ph diet, which avoids acidic food to make your body more alkaline.
For the price this thing is great, I'm sure the pricier juicers are better built, but this is a great juicer to try juicing to see if you really like it, it's a small investment
Customer Review: good juicer Summary: 4 Stars
I had been looking at juicers for about the last 6-8 months and just couldn't decide! Then someone told me about the Hamilton juicer, we read the reviews, and we purchased it.
The VERY first day we made the best apple and lemon recipe from the manual. We had macintosh apples and it was just like homemade cider! We've tried all kinds of things - here are some favorites:
1 pear with 1 cucumber
1 papaya with 2 oranges
carrots and celery
cranberry & grapefruit
veggie - carrot, celery, spinach, tomato (just like v8!)
Only things that don't juice well that we have found so far is broccoli & banana. the broccoli florets go everywhere and there is very little juice, and the banana just gets mushed and no real juice.
Good value for the money, there is a warranty, and its really easy to clean. Suggest putting a plastic bag in the receptacle so there is one less thing to clean. Also, used carrot and apple remains to make a cake :) Very tasty and felt good to not throw it out.
Customer Review: Good for the money, great for the taste! Summary: 5 Stars
For the money this is a great product. The only complaint I have is the "big mouth" still wasn't big enough to take whole apples as advertised. I supposed if you bought medium to small sized apples it would be big enough though.
The product is extremely simple to use: flip the switch and put the fruit in the top. It's pretty easy to clean too but I still spend about 10 minutes rinsing and drying everything before putting it back together. However, it's difficult to get around spending considerable amounts of time cleaning juicers, so I would still say it's easy to clean (comparably).
Also, there hasn't been anything that I have put in the juicer that it has not been able to cut through and juice. I have put in various veggies and fruits and it seems pretty strong. Finally, the juice taste great. It's almost never clear like the advertisements show, but it's better--it's frothy!! When I put in refridgerated oranges the juice almost tasted like orange julius. So I would definitely recommend this juicer.
