Customer Review: Looks cool, but a spoon would be faster

I couldn't wait to start making real milkshakes with the DrinkMaster I received as a gift. However, once I got started, wait was all I did. I had to use the mixing tip like a saw blade to cut through the ice cream - if I put the mixing tip directly in the ice cream, the motor quickly ran down to nothing. After five minutes of sawing and mixing, I had a great-looking banana milkshake. Unfortunately, when I poured it out, I still found large banana chunks left in my glass. Perhaps I should have microwaved the ice cream first and pureed the banana in a food processor before putting it in the the DrinkMaster... I quickly returned this item to the store as "cute, but not useful".

Hamilton Beach's drink mixers began appearing at soda fountains in 1911; this 14-1/2-inch-high, 70-watt model, in creamy green, recalls Elvis's first decade. But it's 21st-century, too, blending fruit smoothies and health drinks as well as milk shakes and malted milks. Also use it to mix puddings and beat eggs for omelets. Two speeds offer mixing flexibility, and the tilting head makes it easy to remove the spindle for cleaning.
