I'm surprised by the negative comments some others reviewed because after careful scrutiny of all the models - balancing out their features, price, motor power, size details, with customer reviews, I went from a Kitchen Aid (my first choice), to the cusineart blender model w/food processor attachment(but read about the one part that breaks quickly on everyone that reviewed it so I moved on), to finally decide to try this model in the end, & I'm very pleased with my final decision. - The blender is attractive looking, w/a nicely designed glass jug, which lists both US & metric measurements up the sides of the jug, has a cone shape rather than the kitchen aid cylinder shape, therefore moving the contents around for thorough blending & ice crushing (for those protein drinks), & lastly - the handle is large enough for the biggest hand, which makes handling comfortable. (I thought I'd include that & might be important for all the men out there.)
- The motor is powerful. After reading other reviews about not working at all for ice or processing, when I made my first protein drink I was upset when I didn't hear the usual racket after putting in the icecubes through the top. I thought "Oh No!!! I have to return it now!!!It doesn't even catch the cubes, much less make snow!!!", only to calm down long enough to open the lid, peer inside, & realize that if I didn't turn it off, I wouldn't have any texture left to my shake at all because the ice would be completely gone to water!
It is wonderful & powerful. (Read the booklet re: using the highest speed & pulse for ice crushing)
- Then I braced myself for something to go wrong w/the processor because surely this machine, at this price, can't be that good, right??? I'm glad to report - wrong! I read the instructions, washed all the parts, & assembled the food processor attachments on the blender base, ready to test it by using the shredder blade disk for shredding carrots, & turned it on. I was amazed at how powerful it was!
I don't own a food processor, but unless I'd need a large capacity one in the future, I don't see the need to ever do so. This machine is fantastic so far (if anything goes wrong I will definitely update)& I recommend it for a multi-purpose machine at a great price, for space saving use, to do all those little everyday jobs of food preparation, as well as those all important breakfast protein drinks too!
One Negative - cord is short so if your outlet is a distance down the counter just pick up a $2 white extension cord from your local drug-store. Not important enough to not buy.

This glass jar blender has a food processor attachment that allows you to chop as well.This compact two-in-one BlenderChef may be a life-changing appliance, as both a blender and a food processor fit alternately onto the base of this powerful, 400-watt machine. The wide-mouth glass blender jar holds 40 ounces and comes with an excellent SureRest base that keeps it from tipping over on the countertop. The blender has 12 speeds (from "stir" at the low end all the way up to "liquefy"), including a great "icebreaker/pulse" button--stubborn ice cubes beware! (Check the enclosed booklet for tips on ice crushing, because even a champion blender requires some human assistance.) After you've whipped up a slushy drink or puréed carrot soup to a perfect smoothness, it's easy to switch over to the processor attachment (which snaps just as easily in place as the blender), feed a few vegetables through the chute, and have beautiful fixings for salad or stir-fry in minutes. The work bowl for the food processor has a 3-cup capacity with a special feed tube in the lid for adding oil or other liquids without muss or fuss. The base of the machine wipes down easily; though hand washing is recommended for the blades, the glass jar and plastic processor pieces are dishwasher-safe. --Erin Brown
