Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Hamilton Beach 51101B Personal Blender with Travel Lid, BlackCustomer Review: Phenomenal product Summary: 5 Stars
I've been using this blender every day at least once, but sometimes more, for over a week. I drink lots of shakes because of my diet plan. I originally got one to bring to work so that I can have the shakes like i prefer them with ice; however, I'm going to buy a second one to keep at home. It's much easier to use than the big blender, and honestly, it does just as well.
The only drawback is it has to be handwashed --- but it's worth it to me to have something that's portable. Now, I don't even have to worry about traveling because it's so small that it can easily be packed. I will be able to prepare my shakes anywhere!
Customer Review: Good for what it is Summary: 4 Stars
This little machine (in red) has given me good service for a year, mostly variations on a banana-peanut butter smoothie with no ice added. But I've also blended soups & milkshakes. It works best with pulsing. If you give a lightweight, inexpensive appliance like this heavy duty, expecting it to do what you get from a full-size blender &/or bean grinder, you'll probably be disappointed or burn it out. It's easy to clean (be careful with your fingers around the blades). If you lose track of the clear insert cap on the lid, a snap on plastic milk container cap fit perfectly. Con is that 12 oz really is the limit.
Customer Review: Not worth the low price... Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this to make smoothies with, but the first time I used it with yogurt, soymilk, and frozen fruit, I had to stop every now and then and scrape down the sides. I had to defrost the berries before I made another one. The lid NEVER fit onto the cup properly; I wound up using aluminum foil over the top when I was blending something. You can't take the blade portion off of the cup to clean it which is extremely inconvenient; not to mention, who wants to carry around a "cup" with blending blades in the bottom. Finally, I just gave up and decided to buy something better. Save your money and buy a real blender!
Customer Review: Best blender ever! Summary: 5 Stars
Bought this about 6 months ago through Amazon and have used it heavily. My two friends have it too. It blends very fast, and you can put all kinds of things in there: spinach, chopped apples, frozen strawberries/bananas/ fruit, big pieces of ice, etc. The lid is nice since there's a little opening to drink out of directly or put in a straw.
This is the best $16 I've spent in a while! I mostly like that it's so small, which makes it very easy to clean and use everyday. Since the body is plastic (though sturdy), it's also very light, compared to the larger glass blenders.
Customer Review: More than I expected! Summary: 5 Stars
This blender was more than I expected. I use mine for fruit and protein smoothies. I couldn't believe how fast it blended my smoothie! A couple of pulses and it was done! The trick that I use is that I put the frozen fruit in the cup the night before I make the smoothie so the fruit is just thawed.
I use about 3/4 of a cup of Strawberries and 3/4 cup of cut Mangoes. 1 cup of low carb yogurt of choice and a splash of apple juice or grape juice. Thats all! If I'm eating it after a workout I'll add whey protein powder. It's so convenient, I hope they never stop making these :)
