Customer Review: Good while it lasted

My wife and I enjoyed the slow cooker a lot. We received it as a wedding gift. Unfortunately after the first use the largest pot of the 3 cracked, possibly because of the heat, which was okay because we could use the smaller ones. By the time we used it the fifth time however the slow cooker was no longer working. We don't use the pot very often, after a year and a half we've used it 5 times, and it broke this last time, the light went on but there was no heat. We're hoping that they'll take it back.
If you're placing this on your registry I'd recommend you go with something else.

Hamilton Beach 33134 3-in-1 Slow Cooker with 2-, 4-, and 6-Quart Crocks I gave this item as a gift to a couple in New York three months ago and they haven't stopped thanking me yet! With 3 different size cooking pots, they can prepare for themselves or a party of friends. Being able to store the 2 quart inside the 4 quart and then put them both inside the 6 quart Crock makes this a great space saver especially in New York where space can be very limited!

Customer Review: Needs a little work

I got it for Christmas last year from my father in law. I quickly chucked the (not-so) old one. In retrospect, I should have waited until I tried this one out. Thankfully, my husband had only put the old one in the shed. For the most part, it works great. I do wish it had a temperature read out as the different sizes must vary it some.
My big issue - you have to be careful with the largest pot. It gets hot near the heat element and not-so on top. I've had two meals burn on the outsides, on low. I use my regular crockpot for anything I can't watch and stir occasionally.

The first time I used this it was great, and I looked forward to using it again.
Problem is, the secong time I used it it stopped working before the chili was finished. It simply stopped heating after about three hours. Lucky I caught it before the food spoiled and I finished my chili in a kettle on the stovetop. I really want to keep this handy cooker, which is great for a single.
I'll call customer service tomorrow and see how they address this disappointing problem.
I'll update this review when the situation is resolved and adjust my rating.

I've used this cooker once, utilizing the mid-sized crock, and it worked very well. I did note that the base was pretty hot so a bit of insulation inside might be helpful to conserve energy. On the other hand, since metal covers the heating elements inside and is connected to the exterior metal, perhaps this is unavoidable.
This product seems to be well built, but durability over time is the proper guage of quality. I'll review again after a year or two. Right now I'm quite happy with it and I am glad I decided on this one.
