Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Hamilton Beach 25450 Gourmet Panini Press

Customer Review: Great Price, Great Product.
Summary: 5 Stars

Have it for three months. Large enough to heat two full-size panini at the same time, easily. You do have to wait for the pre-heating, but not longer than the time preparing the materials. Won't take up the counter since you can store it vertically.

If I could, I would give a 4.5 for this. The bottom panel is surrounded with absolute vertical edges, which makes it HARD to clean. I wish there is a small indenture on the edges or with a little angle.

But overall, great price and great product. Highly recommend!

Customer Review: good and bad ..
Summary: 2 Stars

this was a gift from my daughter, who knew i wanted a pannini grill .. the worst feature is that you cannot remove the plates to clean them properly .. the best is that the top locks into place so you can prevent smooshing your sandwiches ..
if used just for panninis, this is such a nice item and the price is even better now that it is lowered to 28$ ..
but, still, it is a pain to clean if you grill anything other than just a sandwich (chicken, steak .. )

Customer Review: Made a great gift
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this for a friend who had never used a panini machine. I picked this one because of the way the lid pivoted, allowing for even pressure on thick or thin sandwiches. My friend loves the machine and I looked pretty good for picking this one out. The only thing that would make it better would be removable grills so she could wash them in the sink. As it is, it's one of those "wipe it off" things and you never really get it clean that way.

Customer Review: no "on/off" switch ? WHY
Summary: 3 Stars

I really love this thing, except that there is no on/off switch. To turn it on, you have to plug it in, So to turn it off you have to unplug it.

A switch would have been much better.

Also the lid is quiet heavy, so it really compresses what ever you are "grilling". And the knob for adjusting the height never seems to stay set correctly.

Overall, I like what it does, but it is not what I expected.

Customer Review: Love it!
Summary: 5 Stars

I picked this up thinking it would be great to make paninis at home since my kids and husband are huge panini fans. I especially like the locking feature and usually start with the bread open faced with the cheese on one slice and the meat on the other to get the insides warmed up. Then I put the sandwich together, release the lock and finish grilling with the top resting on the bread. Nice and warm through and through.
