Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Hamilton Beach 25450 Gourmet Panini Press

Customer Review: Mmmmm... want to eat paninis for every meal!
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm enjoying a panini as I write this! Love the hingeless design, the locking mechanism, the overall quality of the press. I read a few reviews that I respectfully disagree with. 1. It takes MAYBE 2 minutes to heat up. (although the green light is very faint when it comes on, maybe the reviewer doesn't notice when it comes on?) 2. I've made about 10 sandwiches since Chrismtas (3 weeks) and in 5 minutes the sandwiches are super melty and warm inside and nicely toasted and crisp outside. I use ciabatta rolls, so maybe some other kinds of sandwich bread don't work as well? This model does exactly what I want it to do, makes great sandwiches easily and quickly, cleans up in a snap, and stores upright so it doesn't take up much room. Kudos to my husband, who bought this for me as a Christmas present!

Customer Review: You'll get your money's worth
Summary: 4 Stars

We've had this panini press for a year now. It turns out some yumtastic sandwiches. It cooks evenly and quickly--it's fool proof. I can't find fault with how well it functions. At around $40, you'll get your money's worth. It might be lacking in some of the features of the pricier panini makers like the Cuisinart, but you'll pay more for the Cuisinart. You can't complain your Chevy doesn't have the features of a Caddy! The only reason I can only rate it a 4 and not a 5 is that it is a royal pain to clean! I SO wish Hamilton Beach could get their enginerds who figure this stuff out to rig up a way to make the plates removable!! Then? It would be perfection! But again, totally worth $40 bucks--you won't be disappointed! (Just try to finagle someone else into doing dinner clean up that night!) :)

Customer Review: This thing rocks!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Purchased the grill a few weeks ago after doing some research for grills in this price range. Have used it so far to make: sandwiches (got some italian loaf from the bakery). They turned out great. Toasted bagels--turned out really great--perfectly crispy all over with out being over done. I grilled some zucchini (marinted it some first)---turned out great. I even did a London Broil. Turned out really good too. If you like your meat well done, it will take a while but for rare to medium-well this works great! Probably only took about 15 minutes (if that) to get it to medium.

Heats up quickly. Cleans up nicely. Of course, as with anything, cleans up easier if you do it right away or soon after cooking. Overall I am very pleased.

Customer Review: works great, thiking of buying a second one!!
Summary: 5 Stars

we got this machine for our cafe to make paninis on our homemade foccacia bread. we've been using it for close to a month so far, and it's great! heats up and is ready in the time it takes me to assemble a sandwich for grilling. we don't load too much in the sandwiches, some simple cheese/meat or veggie/cheese combinations, everything comes out hot and melty, the bread gets nice and toasty with those classic panini grill lines...

we'll get busier as summer approaches and we're already thinking of buying another one to make sure we keep orders coming out of the kitchen in a timely manner.

just remember you have to plug it in to turn it on and unplug it to turn it off. so far this has been no hassle, even during a busy lunch.

Customer Review: Better Than I Thought...
Summary: 4 Stars

I thought my husband was crazy when he asked if I had ever though about getting a panini machine. I figured we'd use it once and that would be the end of it. However, I've found that since it so easy and stores so nicely, we use it a lot more often that I thought.

It's easy to use and easy to clean...just wipe it with a damp cloth once you're done using it. I'm sure some of the more expensive versions with removable grill plates would have been nice, but I opted for a less expensive machine based on the thought that it was going to end up eternally on a shelf collecting dust.

If you're looking for a panini press that is easy to use, easy to clean, easy to store and fits in your budget...this is the one.
