Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Haier HLP140E 2-3/5-Cubic-Foot Compact Tumble Vented DryerCustomer Review: Love my new Haier Portable Dryer Summary: 4 Stars
After considering the reviews posted, I decided to purchase the Haier Portable Dryer. I am familiar with the Haier name as I own a Haier Portable Washer. I bought a very small home (850 sq. ft.) several years ago that did not have a washer/dryer hook-ups. I purchased my Haier portable washer because money was tight, as well as space, and I could not afford a plumber to install plumbing necessary for a traditional washer hook-up. The portable washer was just the answer. I line dried everything until a few weeks ago when I decided to purchase a dryer. Once again, money is tight (and space even tighter) as I could not afford an electrician to install the appropriate outlet for a traditional dryer. It was Haier to the rescue. I am completely happy with my purchase. I've had my dryer for two weeks and I do not find the drying times excessive. I wish I'd bought the dryer earlier. I still plan to hang my clothes outside during good weather (how can you beat the smell), but during the winter months this will save me time as I can get all of my laundry done in hours as opposed to days (for drying time).
I applaud Haier for manufacturing products that fit a small home/budget lifestyle. Not everyone owns a McMansion or have the budget to boot.
Customer Review: Never go to the Laundromat again! Summary: 5 Stars
This was the final purchase to allow me to do laundry in my 600 sq. ft. San Francisco apartment. Although we have a laundry room in the building, it seemed that the machines were always in use when I wanted to do laundry. I ended up buying a Haier portable washer (and some great drying racks at Ikea). While surfing the Internet, I happened upon a spin dryer at [...] The spin dryer is amazing!! It uses an extremely fast spin to take much more water out your wash then any washer can. Some things, like t-shirts, can be dry in 1/2 an hour by just hanging them up! Anything that cannot be put on a hanger goes onto the racks to dry (on foggy days, I have the racks in my living room. It works just as well). Now, some things just "need" a dryer to finish - like jeans and towels, to keep them soft. Or, sometimes I don't have the time to wait for an item of clothing to dry naturally. So, I bought this little dryer. I take my jeans and towels when they're still just a little bit damp, pop them into the dryer for 20 minutes and they're done. I highly recommend this product - but looking over my review, I think I recommend the spin dryer even more!
Customer Review: Takes toooooooo long to dry the clothes... Summary: 3 Stars
My Fiance bought me this dryer for Christmas. What a nice surprise. He bought it for me to go with my little Haier Washing Machine.
I like this machine, but I don't love it.
I like it because it's saves me money from going to the laundromat to dry my clothes.
I don't love it because it takes tooooooo long for the clothes to dry. I don't even put that many clothes in the dryer. I'll let it dry for 30 minutes and I go to feel if the clothes are dry and they're still quite damp. If I'm washing clothes and drying, I'll be done washing in less than 2 hours where drying will take me the WHOLE DAY!! ( no lie).
I mean when it finally does dry the clothes, it drys them completely and they're nice and soft... but sometimes I feel it would be alot faster if I just hang the clothes around the apartment and let them air dry instead - which is usually what I do if I'm not washing too many clothes.
I don't have the patience to wait for the clothes to dry if I have to go out to the stores and run a few errands.
Yeah... so that's why I only gave it 3 stars :\
Customer Review: Does what it's supposed to do in a convinent size! Summary: 4 Stars
I have a model of this I bought about a year ago--it looks slightly different than the one pictured here but has the same model number.
That said, this dryer is GREAT. It does take a while to dry clothes, but I got it to go along with the haier portable washer, and it dries one load in the time it takes another load to wash when I use the power wash setting, so that's pretty good.
However, the automatic settings really don't work that well--like a previous poster, I recommend using the timed dry options.
I also don't have the dryer vented to the outside--I instead purchased an indoor lint trap thing. I don't know that it really does much, but the dryer doesn't seem to release a lot of lint into my apartment. The dryer does add some heat and humidity to the apartment, but that's great in the fall/winter. Not so much in the summer, but it still beats having to go to the laundromat.
If you live in an apartment or somewhere that doesn't have laundry hookups or a 220V line, this dryer is a great purchase.
Customer Review: 120 volt dryer for apt use Summary: 5 Stars
The Haier portable dryer is a good general purpose dryer. It runs on regular current, 120 volts. I let everything dry on the auto cycle, which is appx. 60 minutes. Items come of out the dryer dry, but not HOT. The only problem I have is drying sheets - they tend to ball-up in the dryer, so there are damp spots at the ends. I just let the sheets air dry afterwards. Towels and pillow shams dry completely. Usually can only dry 1 sheet at a time. The number of towels and other items, amounts will vary depending on size and thickness. I use the building's washer (HE style), which removes more water than the regular top load washers. Clothes that are hand washed (and wrung out) dry within the auto timed of 60 minutes. Overall, I am satisfied with the dryer's performance. I don't have to worry about venting to the outside (the adapter is positioned upward). Remember to clean the lint filter after each drying and the dryer will perform without problems. There is dryer noise so don't place in area where you need to hear other things.
