This small mortar and pestle works very well for grinding small objects such as pills that are too difficult to swallow; however, the pestle may be a bit too small if you have medium to large sized hands. A slightly larger pestle that is big enough to protrude farther outside the mortar would be preferred. With the exception of the small pestle, this is good item that is well made and sturdy.
Description of HIC Porcelain Mortar and Pestle 2.5-inch
This 2.5" set does a big job at grinding up herbs, spices and pills. The bottom of the bowl is granulated to hold the herbs, spices, pills, etc. while the pestle grinds to whatever texture you choose. This style of grinding releases flavor best in seeds, herbs, spices and garlic. Porcelain is easy to clean, dishwasher safe and won't absorb food odors or stain.Herb & Spice Tools
