We bought this for dog 1 (Copa) about 7 years ago. At the time we referred to him as "wolf dog jack". All day long he was an angel then come 7pm he was a holy terror, biting, chewing you name it, we had to huddle in the middle of the bed at night while sleeping in order to prevent him from biting our rears.
We tried spraying it on items with no luck, so we asked the trainer and she told us the best way to use this was to spray it directly into his mouth when he misbehaves and tell him it is "the spray".
First time we sprayed him - he "HATED IT" foaming at the mouth, shaking his head - we felt awful (Ok he had torn the crap out of our arms and legs for months so there was a ting of revenge). From then on we only ever had to spray him twice. Just saying the words "the spray" was enough, just uttering that phrase resulted in near convulsions from him even years later all it takes is those words and he settles down.
His sister came along two years later and wasn't nearly the terror he was (at first) but over the years her background (left to die in the desert) started to come out. It seems Lola had to fight off coyotes to survive as a young girl and because of that she HATES other dogs (other than her brother). She sees another dog and it is all over she goes bezerk. Total over the past 5 years we have probably spent $5,000 on psychologist, trainers, boot camps etc. But she is never gonna be a dog lover. So we decided to get out "the spray" as soon as Copa saw it he knew we had stepped up our game . . .
Lola is much better now. When she sees a dog through the window or on a walk just uttering those beautiful words is enough to calm the mania, Lola tends to get "the spray" maybe once a day (much more frequently than Copa ever did) over the past few weeks. But at least with "the spray" there is some semblance of calm, and control.
I love you Grannick's, I love you.
