Customer Review: Powerful, well-built little indoor mini spotlights

These spotlights are extremely well built, look cool, and to have a pretty nice heft to them. I got a bunch of these lights to illuminate plants and they work great on tile and hardwood floors. These won't be as efficient as all the new LED stuff coming out, but the halogen bulbs produce plenty of nice, powerful, warm light with a good light pattern. Aiming the beam at your subject is easy, but easier when you first turn them on while they're relatively cool as, predictably, the casing can get very hot. A nice safety feature is a spring loaded little wheel that looks like a tiny plane's landing gear, that will turn the light off if the light tips over. The light is heavy enough not to be affected by it's own power cord, but it's still a good idea to tie all the extra slack up.
An inline power switch is provided in the box but if you want to use it, you'll have to cut one side of the cord to install it as they don't do it for you. I use this: Stanley 38425 TimerMax Digislim Daily Digital Indoor Lamp Timer, White, 2-Pack to automatically turn them off and on, but the two-pronged (from what I recall, will double-check) power adapter for this spotlight is so large and heavy that I worry it may damage the timer after a while as the plug's on the side of the timer.
These really add some nice atmosphere to your living space.
