I bought two of these after unsuccessfully searching for deep dish pie plates in several stores. These are every bit as nice as the ones found in the fancy kitchen catalogs and are less than a third of the price. The size is generous, the heft is perfect, the surface smooth and easy to clean and the color is rich and suitable for serving directly to the table. I made a homemade apple pie for New Year's to bring to my mom's. She kept admiring the pie plate so I gave it to her and returned to Amazon to order another. These are so pleasing, they have inspired me to stock up on pie recipies and improve my pie making ability. They would make wonderful gifts, I plan to buy more in the future.Customer Review: Broken on arrival

I was very excited to find this economical pie plate in red--just what my sister-in-law wanted for Christmas. I received my order in great time, as usual, from Amazon, but was very disappointed to discover the plate was broken in many pieces. I could hear it rattling before I even opened it. And since other breakable items arrived in perfect condition, I can only assume it was broken before it was shipped. And of course, it is now out of stock. I really hate the return proceedure--having to ship back a broken item which is not usable is a pain at Christmas time. Plus I had to order a more expensive pie plate. Very disappointing. I initially bought this item because, I wanted a "pretty" pie plate.. I also liked the ceramic look. *I'm not sure if they are the same thing, but when mine arrived, it said stoneware.. You can't tell from the picture, but the off white interior is a bit darker than that, almost a sandy beige color, the red is also darker. It is a VERY HEAVY pie plate. and much larger than i had originally expected. deep as well, so if making from scratch pies be sure to acccount for the depth and width. I had to double recipes for dough and filling to make a chess pie in this but it was SOOOO good! Cooked nicely! Cleaned up very well, too! A++++++Customer Review: A fine deep-dish pie plate

This is my second purchase of this item, not because the first was defective or anything, but because it has become a favorite dish in my kitchen. My family enjoys Bisquick Impossible Pies and this beautiful, deep-dish plate is the perfect piece of cookware for these pies. (My husband loves the extra deep cherry pies I make in this dish.)
I am also prejudice about the lovely red color of the plate. I am slowly moving my kitchen into a light-bright yellow room with apple red counter top appliances and accessories. This ceramic pie plate has been a wonderful addition.

I was very impressed with this item. My mother asked for a stoneware pie plate for Christmas. I looked everywhere for something beautiful, made well, but not overly expensive and couldn't find anything. Was I surprised to find this pie plate for only $9.99 and free shipping. It was such a good deal that I bot 2 for her. I have a problem though - now I want one and I would like to get one for my mother-in-law also. This item is beautiful, well made, and deep enough for a good sized pie. If I had anything bad to say about it, I wish there were more colors to choose from.
