Customer Review: Expensive AND IMPRESSIVE!

In September of 2009 my dear friend and fellow foodie Mary O. gave me a global vegetable knife for my birthday. I didn't open and use it for two months afterward - after all, I had a drawer full of knives and how could this one be any different.
Was I ever wrong! I made jambalaya, which involves quite a bit of chopping of what is called the Cajun Trinity (celery, onions, and green bell peppers). This dish had always been delicious to eat but was so labor intensive I tended to save it for special occasions. The global knife was an absolute pleasure to use, the vegetables practically chopped themselves, and the knife was so well balanced that not only did I finish in a quarter of the time, there was none of the hand fatigue I was accustomed to.
Well, I had to have a collection of these knives, but was a bit scared off by the price, frankly I'm somewhat frugal and this seemed like a lot of money. A year had passed, and this set was featured at a very attractive price for Xmas so I took the plunge. Now, there is practically nothing I don't use one of these Global knives for in the kitchen. They go through meat or poultry like the proverbial "hot knife through butter"..... This is a great set, and much more economical than buying one at a time. Go for it!

Global's 3 Piece 25th Anniversary Set. This modern knife set comes in 25th Anniversary logo box with Global lapel pin. Set includes: Global's popular (G-4) oriental chef's knife 7-Inch plus two brand new Global shapes. The Global (GS-54) santoku 4-1/2-Inch is terrific for small board work such as slicing shallots and chives and the Global (GS-58) oriental utility knife 4-1/2-Inch is great for peeling tough skinned ingredients like sweet potatoes. Loved by professional chefs around the world, Global knives are an excellent choice for the serious home cook. The thin and razor sharp Global blade allows the cook to cleanly slice through foods, preserving the integrity of the ingredient and maximizing its flavor. The majority of Global knives are ground to a straight point rather than the western style of beveling the edge. To balance their knives Global uses a hollow handle that is filled with just the right amount of sand to create the correct balance. The handle has its own unique darkened dimples for a non-slip grip. Because the knives are very light weight they reduce hand fatigue. Global knives have a smooth contour and seamless, all stainless construction that eliminates food and dirt traps.
