Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Global G-2 - 8 inch, 20cm Chef's KnifeCustomer Review: Best knives on the planet. Summary: 5 Stars
I first bought a Global knife six years ago. It was the 6 inch serrated version. Even after six years, the knife is still reasonably sharp. So I decided to ad another global knife to my collection and I selected this one. It is amazingly sharp, and because I now have two global knives, I am considering purchasing a knife sharpener to keep my knives consistently sharp for years to come. In fact, I plan on purchasing 3-4 more Global knives to cover all eventualities for cutting in the kitchen.
Customer Review: When God Cooks ... Summary: 5 Stars
he uses this knife. Hands down, it is the best knife I have ever owned or used. It is expensive, no doubt, but well worth the cost. It holds an edge like no other knife. The grip is comfortable, with a nice balanced feel in the hand. (The notch where the blade meets the handle adds extra versatility.) I've found that when I do need to sharpen it (and this is the only knife I ever reach for) it sharpens with only a couple of passes. Overall, a great knife.
Customer Review: wonderful, high quality knife Summary: 5 Stars
I recently acquired one of these from a local store. The clerk highly recommended it for it's ease of sharpening and retention. The knife is wonderful! I've never used a knife so sharp, and this is factory sharpened, not even professionally done. The knife is light weight, so it is more about precession than power. It balances wonderfully, and the grip is great. All together a wonderful piece for any kitchen. I plan on acquiring a whole set as my budget allows.
Customer Review: Breaks Easily Summary: 1 Stars
Hello. I bought this knife in May 2007. I used it almost daily to cook, it cut vegetables and meats very well and kept its edge. I did sharpen it 2 or 3x though.
Unfortunately, I accidentally knocked it off the counter. When I picked it up, it was broken in two pieces between the narrow area between the hilt and the blade. I took excellent care of it... but clearly something is wrong when it breaks in two pieces on its 1st 3foot fall.
Customer Review: A professional result... Summary: 5 Stars
After 20 years of struggling with subpar knives, I decided to invest in a good chef's knife. This is the best knife I've ever owned! It has an extremely sharp blade and a nice, stiff handle that makes cutting a breeze. I purchased it after reading "Kitchen Confidential" by Anthony Bourdain, in which he recommended this brand. This knife is perfect for meat, vegetables, fruit, anything....it's very versatile. It's definitely worth the investment.
