Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Global G-2 - 8 inch, 20cm Chef's KnifeCustomer Review: Only three stars, but for a reason... Summary: 3 Stars
Just would like to weigh in (sorry about the pun, you will see) on this knife.. It is great for smaller hands and people who don't cook a-plenty, and for people who can't be trusted to never put their knives in the dishwasher. I bought this knife for my sister, and she loves it, but as a longtime chef, it really isn't hefty enough for me... This is something you should really check out for yourself in a store before buying.... I like the split buy of a heavy german chefs knife (but with the bolster ground away) and a fine Japanese santuko (single bevel, pref, and high carbon steel) I do love my Global boning knives (meat and chicken) which have been superlative... I just have to say not a huge fan of the chef's knives...
Customer Review: superior knife Summary: 5 Stars
As a professional cook, I don't like to waste time with gadgets or gimmicks at work. I was tired of the the dull, poor quality knives that my company supplies. I had the opportunity to try a Wusthoff knife during a busy shift. While it was better than the company knives, the weight made delicate tasks difficult. I held the Global at a cutlery shop and immediately noticed the balance and light weight it possesed. I purchased it on the spot. The knife is the best I have ever used. Global was able to produce a superior knife and it has proven itself day in and day out by handling everything from cutting frozen beef to slicing through tomatoes with ease. I will never go back to another brand, the knife is THAT good.
Customer Review: Burn your old wooden handle knives Summary: 4 Stars
I desperately needed a new knife because my old Chicago Cutlery wooden handle knife became a gross and nasty E. coli distributing piece of junk. which was very sad because I loved that knife! I had it for 20+ years. I ended up buying this knife because I really liked the look of the handle. It looked like it would grip well. and it does. To me it seemed a bit expensive, but the Stainless Chicago Cutlery knives handles were very smooth so there were few choices for me. The most important point is what ever brand you choose, go with non-wooden handles. don't make the mistake that I made by holding on to those old wooden handle knives. Bacteria will eventually get in them and then they will make you sick.
Customer Review: Terrible knife Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this knife after reading ALOT of reviews, which were very good reviews. All I can say is, either the people writing good reviews is the company doing it themselves, or people that have NO idea what a good knife is! Example; my husband was deperate buying last minute things for my stocking, so he and my sons went to Walgreens and started picking out stuff, they picked out a ceramic knife, won't say the name as people may think I am promoting this item! All I can say is my mother (who taught my how to cook and cooks regularly with me) laughs about the fact that the global knife does NOT even compare to this $20 ceramic knife. My last words of bitching, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!
Customer Review: I love this knife! Summary: 5 Stars
This is an amazing knife. We just received it today. I cut a carrot with it first and it was like cutting butter. I was totally surprised at how easy it was! It's so fun to use and easy to cut like they do on those cooking shows. You know how they cut really fast and nice? It's totally possible with a cool knife like that;-) The knife seems to want to slice through things. I love it. It's truly worth every penny. It makes cooking much quicker and fun. You really notice how good it is when you cut hard things up like a carrot or onion or something like that. I enjoyed cutting with it so much tonight that some of the food at dinner was cut a little too small...but it was so fun!
